Are you passionate about teaching mathematics? The College of Natural Science and Mathematics is looking for a bipartite (teaching and service) Instructor or non-tenure-track Assistant Professor to teach Mathematics both in-person and online, to begin either January 2021 or Fall 2021.
Service responsibilities include maintaining and developing curricula in the areas of general education mathematics courses and foundational service courses for STEM degrees, serving on departmental committees and university committees, and doing outreach and public service. Essential
The 93% of time dedicated to teaching will consist of using a variety of modalities for delivering courses in mathematics, including face-to-face teaching and online asynchronous teaching. Primary teaching responsibilities include teaching any 100- and 200-level course in mathematics, with the exception of Math 211/212, and may include upper-division courses or statistics courses depending on the successful applicant’s experience and the needs of the department. The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching mathematics courses in a manner that is consistent with the specified course content descriptions, associated standards, and approved syllabi. The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Alaska Fairbanks seeks applicants for a bipartite (teaching and service) faculty position. Successful applicants will hold an MS or PhD degree in Mathematics or a closely related field, provide evidence of effective teaching experience, and be committed to undergraduate instruction. The position may be offered at either the Instructor (MS) or Term Assistant Professor (PhD) level, and is expected to be continuing. Teaching duties of 4+3 courses will span general education, service courses for engineering and science programs, and possibly more advanced undergraduate courses, with delivery in a mixture of on-campus and distance formats. Service includes an integral role in maintaining and developing curricula in these areas. On-line instructional experience is desired but not required. Successful candidates must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere focused on improving student success.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:
The position requires a master's degree in mathematics or a very closely related field (e.g., statistics) that includes advanced coursework in mathematics. The position requires successful experience teaching mathematics at the undergraduate level. Experience with both traditional (i.e., face-to-face lecture) and distance education (i.e., online) formats is preferred.
