Position Summary:

University Police Department is seeking Seawolf Safety Patrol (SSP) Officers to assist in protecting life and property through foot patrols, securing checks of University buildings to include UAA Consortium Library on a regular recurring basis. SSP's will also assist with crowd control, detecting criminal activity; in addition, safety service to the UAA community such as providing safety escorts.  SSP will have other duties assigned pending the various conditions and works under the general direction of police officers. Duties:

SSP's will also assist with crowd control, detecting criminal activity; in addition, safety service to the UAA community such as providing safety escorts.  SSP will have other duties assigned pending the various conditions and works under the general direction of police officers. 

Exercises independent judgment and decision-making in dealing with the general public, including sensitive and confidential information. Good physical condition and ability to work in inclement weather required. Background investigation and drug screening required. SSP Officers must be 18 years of age at the time of appointment.

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

Dependable, can problem solve and must have minimum of six (6) UA system credit hours per semeser.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

Preferred valid Alaska drivers license, first aid, and CPR training desirable. Other duties will be provided through training after hire.

To be eligible for student employment, an applicant must:
A. Be enrolled in the University of Alaska system, with a minimum of six (6) credit hours in the current semester of employment; or
B. Have been enrolled the preceding semester for six (6) or more credit hours and demonstrate plans to enroll for six (6) or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters; and
C. Must have a (2.0) cumulative grade point average (GPA) or approval from the MAU Senor Studnet Services officer or his/her designee.
D. Students enroll in non-traditional programs of study will be considered eligible for student employment with the approval of the Senior Student Services officer.
E. An applicant must provide evidence of enrollment as outlined above to substantive employment eligibility.

Minimum Starting Hourly Salary: $10.50
