Position Summary:

This is a union represented position. The CT3 Plumber works in cooperation with other Crafts & Trades personnel to support the successful operations of the general services provided by Facilities Services Division of Maintenance. Under the supervision of the Plumbing Shop Service Manager, performs journeyman level maintenance work in performing repairs and maintenance on various plumbing systems at the University of Alaska Fairbanks facilities.

Duties:

100This is a union represented position. Perform preventative maintenance to support the successful operations of the general services provided by Facilities Services Department of Maintenance. Under the supervision of the Plumbing Shop Supervisor: ·Perform routine installation, maintenance, and repairs of the heating, domestic water, and sanitary drainage systems. ·Inspect, Install, maintain, and repair plumbing fixtures, ·Plan, schedule, and complete jobs to plans, specifications, and directions. ·Plan, schedule, and complete preventative maintenance. ·Perform other duties as assigned, ·Observe safety rules and regulations, and ·Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor and schedule repairs. ·Coordinate multi-craft jobs.Essential

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Knowledge of the methods, materials, fixtures, tools and equipment used in plumbing work; of standard plumbing techniques; and of job safety measures.

Ability to maintain and perform repairs of various plumbing systems and fixtures.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Ability to drive Facilities Services vehicles per University guidelines.
Demonstrated knowledge and skill in the use of related hand tools.
Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form, ability to follow written and oral instructions.
Knowledge of basic computer operations.
Ability to learn specific computer software/hardware applications, (i.e. maintenance work order system)
Ability to adhere to safety standards and procedures; working in a safe manner.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals and groups and to work successfully as a member of a team.
Analytical and problem solving skills

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

Master level or equivalent certification in the plumbing trade; or a minimum of 15 years
related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must demonstrate ability to plan jobs independently, coordinate crafts and execute jobs at the journeyman level.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

Journeyman level or equivalent certification in the plumbing trade; with a minimum of fifteen years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.

Salary Information: CT3 /Step 1 $28.58/hr or OBO.  (See Article 9.2 in the L6070 Collective Bargaining Agreement, Wage Grade Schedule - http://www.alaska.edu/labor/local-6070/ .   This is a full-time, benefited position with a UA employee benefits package. . Union represented.

L6070- Probationary Period: Pursuant to Article 1.5 of the Local 6070 Collective Bargaining Agreement, upon initial hire Local 6070 Bargaining Unit Members are probationary for the first six (6) months of work.  During the probationary period, employment may be terminated for no reason or any reason.
