The University of Alaska Fairbanks, Community and Technical College is seeking a highly motivated student for maintenance support work. The selected applicant will play an integral role in minor maintenance tasks, cleaning, furniture distribution and various other assigned tasks as necessary. Qualified applicants will demonstrate high motivation, ability to be independent, high mechanical aptitude, some previous experience, and good communication.
The UAF CTC student maintenance support member will assist with minor maintenance and repair activities, moving furniture, grounds maintenance, carpet cleaning, shoveling, prioritizing maintenance requests, supporting UAF CTC's programs and activities.
As an employee of UAF CTC you will be expected to adhere to the highest standards of ethical and moral behavior with a positive demeanor that works well with teams. Ability to operate miscellaneous power tools and equipment.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position:
- May require mechanical or technical ability/knowledge.
- Ability to operate tools, power tools, and other mechanical devices.
- Ability to work without supervision, prioritize, initiate required work tasks, and work in a team environment.
- Ability to communicate clearly with co-workers and residents of campus facilities.
- Knowledge of safe handling procedures for cleaning chemicals.
- Ability to lift 75 pounds.
Type and length of experience required for this position:
- Three (3) years of driving experience with a valid drivers' license.
- Be able to pass the University's safe driving certification test.
- Demonstrated education and experience sufficient to perform the responsibilities of the position and to have acquired the necessary skill and abilities.
Additional position details:
This position is a Student Assistant C; starting rate of pay is $10.50 hourly.
UA Board of Regents’ Policy P09.05.020 states that in order to be eligible for student employment, graduate and undergraduate students must be enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment or have been enrolled the preceding semester for six or more credit hours, and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters. A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required.
Foreign nationals in a student position must be enrolled full time unless they have permission from the Designated School Official or Responsible Officer for that campus.
