Position Summary:

This is a term funded position covered by a collective bargaining agreement. This position requires the successful candidate to work on the Ketchikan campus. Teach maritime courses. Meet with agencies & industry representatives regularly to determine training needs. Promote UASK maritime programs including presentations to agencies and community groups. Travel to outlying communities to promote UASK maritime programs. Attend industry-specific events and meetings to represent UASK maritime programs Organize UASK maritime events, and other outreach efforts. Work closely with marketing specialist on recruitment materials for maritime programs. Work with student advisors, registration staff, student accounts, and other university personnel. Meet with potential students to discuss maritime career paths Write letters, reports, requests and other documents as needed. Work with maritime coordinator to ensure all equipment is functioning and maintained. Work with campus IT staff to ensure maritime simulator is functioning and maintained.

Duties:

100Teach STCW/USCG approved maritime courses. Assist in promotion of maritime program through working with industry stakeholders, community groups. Attend industry-specific events, trade shows, and meetings to represent UASK maritime programs. Assist with student advising. Ability to communicate effectively in person, on the phone, and through electronic means. Work with maritime faculty and staff to ensure all equipment is functioning and maintained. Willingness and ability to work with maritime faculty and IT staff to provide effective education through marine simulator operation.Essential

Demonstrated experience in vessel maintenance

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

Five or more years of work experience in the maritime industry. Ability to be approved to teach USCG classes

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

A.A. or A.A.S. or equivalent; 200 GRT masters license.
Ability to be approved to teach USCG classes
Preferred 500 ton and above.
