Position Summary:

UAF's Community and Technical College offers over forty degree and certificate programs that prepare graduates to work in occupations that keep our communities running and safe and are instrumental in making Alaska a better place to live, work, learn and recreate. Join our team of Technical Program Assistants and help educate and train these Alaskans for Alaskan jobs.

Duties:

100Provide specialized or technical assistance necessary to help develop today's students into tomorrow's workforce. Duties vary as specified by the program or department requirement.Essential

UAF CTC maintains a pool of technical program assistants who provide the specialized or technical assistance necessary to help develop today's students into tomorrow's workforce.  Applicants selected from this pool must have the specialized knowledge, skills and abilities required for our various programs and departments to meet the educational and industry needs of their field.  Applications will be reviewed on an as-needed basis by various programs and departments within UAF CTC. 

Some departments or programs require specific licensure or certification in the field. 

An associate's degree in relevant field or the equivalent may also be required.

Typically, a minimum of one year technical experience is required, although length of time and type of experience varies for each UAF CTC program and is determined by the department head or coordinator for the specific program.

The successful applicants must have:

  • Knowledge of technical area of expertise.
  • Experience in subject area sufficient to perform the duties required by the department or program.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Computer and software application skills may be required. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work with students from diverse populations.
