UAF's Community and Technical College is looking for adjunct faculty to instruct courses in group and public communications. CTC adjuncts are a pivotal element in preparing students to work in occupations that keep our communities running and safe, and are instrumental in making Alaska a better place to live, work, learn and recreate.

The University of Alaska Fairbanks, Community and Technical College offers over forty degrees, certificates and endorsements designed to educate and train Alaskans for Alaskan jobs. Adjunct duties include instructing, advising, and assessing/grading students, developing a course outline, syllabus, teaching materials, and tests or other assessment methods, all consistent with UAF policies and procedures. The incumbent will be responsible for teaching one or more undergraduate communications courses in a manner consistent with UAF Faculty Senate guidelines and the specific course catalog description.
UAF CTC is responsive to local and regional vocational and technical training needs, and focuses on workforce development to meet the needs of the region and the state. UAF CTC's programs also provide students with the academic framework to help them achieve their higher education goals, whether it is to complete an associate of arts degree or transfer to a baccalaureate program. Staff and faculty have forged close ties with businesses and local agencies, enhancing instruction and increasing job placements.
UAF CTC employs a diverse population of approximately 30 full-time faculty and 200 adjunct faculty who are represented by two unions and a staff of about 40. Approximately 3000 students attend UAF CTC. They are culturally diverse and include many non-traditional students and students from the military community.
Successful candidates will have demonstrated ability or potential for quality teaching and a commitment to working effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
Candidates will be evaluated on the suitability of their academic preparation, past teaching experience, and potential for providing high quality instruction to undergraduate students.
Masters in Speech/Communications, or a closely related field with 18 graduate semester credits in Speech/Communications, is required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
Candidates should be familiar with utilizing computer and other technologies for instruction.
Previous successful experience with the course and relevant experience in university and high school level instructor is also preferred.
Adjunct faculty are expected to participate annually in scheduled mandatory initial organization or orientation meetings.
