This regional position supports the growing demand by faculty for training in the concepts of instructional design and the use of educational technology.
10 Professional Development
Research and remain current on new trends and best practices in instructional technology and pedagogy via individual and collaborative efforts. Participate in campus-wide, state-wide and national collaborations, conferences and other professional development opportunities. Essential
20 First-line Faculty Support
Collaborate with IT Helpdesk to provide regional support for faculty in the use and troubleshooting of instructional technology in person and by phone, email and web conferencing. Essential
Collaborate with faculty and the CELT Team to help design, develop, and promote professional development activities to support faculty in adopting best practices in teaching. Perform needs assessment for training desired by faculty; plan, develop, direct and evaluate the training opportunities offered by the campus in instructional design for all employees. Provide one-on-one and group training to faculty and staff from all three UAS campuses with respect to best practices in pedagogy and use of instructional technology. 40 Instructional Design
Provide recommendations regarding all aspects of the course design and development process, including decisions about interface design, course architecture and navigation, content arrangement, sequencing of lessons, use of assessments, and selection of class activities. Assist faculty in implementing changes to courses based on faculty feedback, course evaluation and peer review to enhance student learning outcomes. Work with faculty and other instructional designers to design and develop learning solutions, determine appropriate course assessments, and conduct research to validate best practices. Assist faculty in creating reusable learning objects, templates, and other course materials that meet a broad range of instructional needs and serve as state-of-the art solutions for those needs. Work with faculty and staff by serving on regional and statewide committees related to assessment, development, application and support of best practices and appropriate educational technology. Provide leadership and support for integration of national standards and best practices in educational and instructional technologies and make recommendations on purchasing to departments, as well as assisting in the implementation. This position collaborates with faculty to design and develop online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses using learning management systems and relevant educational technologies. The successful candidate is able to provide recommendations regarding all aspects of the course design and development process, including decisions about interface design, course architecture and navigation, content arrangement, sequencing of lessons, use of assessments, and selection of class activities. This position also works collaboratively with the CELT Team to help design, develop, and promote professional development activities to support faculty in adopting best practices in teaching. Required (Please address in your application materials):
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years relevant experience (including consultative experience), or an equivalent combination of training and experience
• three years relevant experience training others in the use of educational technology and instructional design best practices including course design, delivery, assessment of performance based outcomes, and creating accessible course content • extensive experience building courses in a Learning Management System • demonstrated knowledge of instructional design principles including best practices in course design, delivery, assessment of performance based outcomes, use of educational technology, and accessibility • proficient skills in developing multimedia and instructional course content • excellent verbal and written communication skills in teaching or training situations to a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community • ability and willingness to travel occasionally to Sitka and Ketchikan

• Master's degree in instructional design
• college level teaching experience demonstrating use of educational technology; online/distance teaching experience preferred • demonstrated experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds including people with varied technological skills • experience working with educators using a variety of approaches to teaching and learning and in a variety of curricular areas • experience building courses using the Blackboard Learning Management System • knowledge of and skill with the issues/concepts related to blended, hybrid and fully online learning in a higher education environment • knowledge of web tools including video webcasting and online social networking as applicable to higher education

This position provides a unique opportunity to pursue a fulfilling career while maintaining an excellent work/life balance. This 9 month, benefits-eligible position is full-time (40 hours per week) through the academic year (mid-August through mid-May). Full
