Position Summary:

The College of Business & Public Policy's Student Advising Center at the University of Anchorage provides a wide range of services to its students, faculty and to the Anchorage and Alaska business communities. This position also supports the Advising Staff.

Duties:

Act as a liaison with Recycling and perform shredding (when needed).Essential
Front desk support: Maintain a professional environment and provide excellent customer service while serving as first point of contact, both on telephone and in person. Assist current/prospective students, faculty, staff and the public by: answering general questions, scheduling appointments or referring to appropriate resources. Answer multi-line phone, transfer calls, transcribe voice mails messages, return calls, distribute messages and create recordings internal/external voice mail greetings, offices/individuals. Process and track department and student forms.Essential
Keep front desk area/suite organized and clean, make sure applicable bulletin boards are cleared monthly, and order office supplies as needed.Essential
Must review and comply with FERPA and UAA''s confidentiality policies.Essential

POSITION:   CBPP Student Advising Center - Student Assistant C

The CBPP SAC is accepting applications for a "student assistant" for the current Fall, Spring and Summer semesters. Acceptance into the pool does not guarantee an offer of employment. See job posting for more details.

DUTIES:

Answer multi-line phone, transfer calls, transcribe voice mails messages, return calls, distribute messages and create recordings internal/external voice mail greetings, offices/individuals. Process and track department and student forms.

 Project support to: Academic Advisors.

 Provide support for CBPP related events/activities (as requested).

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Candidate must have customer service skills with the ability to multitask and complete projects by their given deadline. Enjoy working in a team environment and display courteous and friendly professionalism. Professional telephone skills; the ability to follow instructions; work independently; the ability to maintain confidentiality; and deliver good verbal and written communication skills which include good grammar and spelling. The ability to organize and prioritize fluctuating workloads; have experience in general office procedures, practices and equipment; work independently to follow up and respond to changing priorities is essential with computer-based word processing, spreadsheet applications, and electronic mail software; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Accuracy and attention to detail is a must.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

To be eligible for student employment an applicant must: A. Be enrolled in the UAA system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment or B. Have been enrolled in the presiding semester for six or more credit hours and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters and C. Have at least a 2.5 (GPA) or approval from the MAU senior student services officer or his/her designee. D. Students enrolled in non-traditional programs of study will be considered eligible for student employment with the approval of the senior student service officer. E. An applicant must provide evidence of enrollment as outlined above to substantiate employment eligibility.

TYPICAL EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

None (Requires Alaska Driver's License).

SALARY:  $10.50/hour
