Position Summary:

The Accounting and Finance Department is accepting applications for a student employment pool for the current Fall and Spring semesters. Acceptance into the pool does not guarantee an offer of employment. This position will assist with grading and research with various faculty members.

Duties:

POSITION:  Accounting & Finance Student Assistant C

Annotate and score homework submittals and exams with reference to solutions and scoring rubrics provided by the instructor. Instructor reviews annotations and scores. Assist with up keeping and generation of research files. Solid understanding of databases. Perform data entry into spreadsheets databases. Look for anomalies and errors in data. Collect and maintain and research data and perform data entry. Assist in grading exams and papers. Take direction from faculty member. Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner using attention to detail.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Duties require considerable knowledge and skills in the course(s) they will be assisting. Good written and oral communication skills, attention to detail and ability to complete tasks in a timely manner are required. Ability to conduct research under the direction of faculty. Experience with Word and Excel software are preferred for this position.  

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

To be eligible for student employment an applicant must:
A. Be enrolled in the UAA system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment or
B. Have been enrolled in the presiding semester for six or more credit hours and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters and
C. Have at least a 2.5 (GPA) or approval from the MAU senior student services officer or his/her designee.
D. Students enrolled in non-traditional programs of study will be considered eligible for student employment with the approval of the senior student service officer.
E. An applicant must provide evidence of enrollment as outlined above to substantiate employment eligibility.

TYPICAL EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

Student must have completed the course they will assist with a B or better. Student must have completed the subsequent course in the specialty with a B or better.  

SALARY:  $10.50/hour
