The University Of Alaska Fairbanks Utilities Department is currently hiring for a team-oriented metering design Engineer / metering technician with a minimum of 4 years of related experience and / or training.
Ability to analyze and resolve significant metering problems.
Ability to provide problem resolution requiring considerable analysis of multiple components or conflicting issues.
Ability to manage metering projects involving power, water and steam condensate meters.
Ability to organize metering projects/expenditures within well-defined guidelines.
Ability to read, interpret and work from plans, drawings and specifications; make rough sketches; follow oral and written directions; must be willing to work around asbestos containing materials.
Education/ experience sufficient to perform the responsibilities of the position and to have acquired the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
Skilled in installation, maintenance, and repair of metering equipment.
Advanced experience with PI process book and MS Excel programs.
Experience with Schnieder & Shark electrical meters and Badger water & steam condensate meters.
Experience with computer networking and website organization/construction.
Ten years’ experience with personal computers and servers.
Experience with low voltage electrical wiring and circuit design.
Experience with project management.
TYPICAL EDUCATION OR TRAINING:
Four years college level education in Engineering, Industrial/Construction Technology or equivalent experience/education plus 4 years related experience and/or training.
Must have a valid Driver’s License.

Salary Information: Grade 79 / Step 1 $25.82/hr DOE. This is a full-time, benefited position with a UA employee benefits package.
