Looking for highly motivated individuals to conduct fieldwork related to assessing ecosystem services in areas affected by recent wildfires or fuel mitigation activities. This will include fieldwork, data management, GIS, and analytical work. Travel around the Anchorage and Eagle River will be required and potential trips to the Kenai Peninsula.
100 Conduct fieldwork that includes identifying vegetation, invasive species, berries, and mushrooms
Navigating and using a GPS
Data management (entering, cleaning, and analyzing data)
Creating and analyzing data in ArcGIS
Statistical analysis with Excel, R, or ArcGIS Essential
This is a field research assistant position at the Institute of Social and Economic Research. Research assistants will work with ISER professors to complete fieldwork investigating the effects of wildfire and fuel mitigation activities. In addition to field data collection, students will assist with a wide range of research tasks from data entry and cleaning through data management and analysis.

Preferred experience in field research, data management or analysis.
Typical Education or Training:
Currently enrolled at UAA with Junior or Senior standing
Major in Biology or Environmental Science preferred.
