The Master of Public Administration Program in the School of Management at the University of Alaska Southeast invites applications for a 2-year term faculty position in Public Administration at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 2020.

The Master of Public Administration Program in the School of Management at the University of Alaska Southeast invites applications for a 2-year term faculty position in Public Administration at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 2020. The successful applicant will be expected to teach a variety of graduate courses in the field of general public administration, including special topics courses related to the applicant’s specialty and experience. We are looking for candidates with a strong commitment to teaching and learning that will include working directly with Master's level students on topics relevant to Alaskan issues.

Ability to teach a variety of Master of Public Administration courses and special topics relevant to area of expertise
Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills
Ability to design and deliver practitioner-oriented curriculum through video conferencing platforms.
Ability to advise students in the MPA program
Ability to perform regular public service related to your discipline
Ability to perform appropriate university service
Ability to advise students in the MPA program
Able to offer electives that complement existing program emphasis areas
Ability to demonstrate successful work experience with public agencies in relation to public administration is preferred
Appropriate academic and practitioner experience will be considered in the employment decision; however, experience with Alaskan governmental and non-profit organizations is preferred
Experience in designing and delivering courses via video conferencing platforms is preferred
Experience working with students from diverse cultures and backgrounds is preferred
Experience working with community partners in developing successful academic programs is preferred
Experience teaching at the masters level
A completed PhD or equivalent in Public Administration, Public Policy or a related field is required. Candidates with ABD at time of application may be considered with the requirement that the PhD must be awarded before August 13, 2020.
This is a two-year term, full-time 9-month faculty appointment at the University of Alaska Southeast. All offers for employment will include full
employee benefits and a competitive salary. This position is covered by the UNAC collective bargaining agreement.
The mission of the Public Administration program is to bring high quality education and training to public managers throughout Alaska. The Public Administration program at UAS is delivered through live online courses using various internet technologies. The program is practitioner oriented with the majority of the students being full-time professional public administrators with an average of 7-10 years experience in the field. The University of Alaska Southeast (UAS) is based in the capital city of Juneau, Alaska.
