Position Summary:

UAA is seeking a CT 1 Electrical Assistant. Under supervision of a journeyman electrician, the incumbent performs a variety of tasks in the operations, maintenance, preventive maintenance, repair, overhaul, installation and construction of electrical systems; including lighting systems, motor control circuits, control wiring, and convenience power outlets.

Duties:

100Candidate primary responsibility is to maintain campus lighting interior and exterior. Under supervision of a journeyman electrician, the incumbent performs a variety of tasks in the operations, maintenance, preventive maintenance, repair, overhaul, installation and construction of electrical systems; including lighting systems, motor control circuits, control wiring, and convenience power outlets. Provide services for electrical systems that operate heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems to include their control systems. Maintain and troubleshoot the campus fire systems, security systems, elevators, emergency generators and electrical controls for exterior lighting. Candidate is also responsible for maintaining campus fire extinguishers including annual inspections as well as performing monthly elevator fire service testing.Essential

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Computer experience including Microsoft office programs preferred. NICET certification is desired. Experience with fire systems, access control systems and camera systems is desired. Applicant with previous experience in the academic environment is preferred. Welding experience a plus.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of 3 years of training and/or experience in the construction, operation or maintenance of Electrical, Electronic, fire alarm systems or related industrial trades. Candidate must be able to lift 50lbs and go up and down a Ladder. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

TYPICAL EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

Fire Extinguisher Permit Class II required or able to get within 60 days of accepting job. Applicant should have a minimum of 175 hours of related education and/or training. Must possess an unrestricted Alaska driver's license or be able to obtain an unrestricted Alaska driver's license within 60 days of accepting the job. In addition, the applicant must meet UAA's safe driving criteria. Applicants must submit with their application packet a current (no older than 30 days) copy of their DMV driving record.

Minimum Starting Salary: $21.93, complete with a competitive salary and UA employee benefits package.

L6070- Probationary Period:
