Manage, establish goals, and assign workload to lower level managerial, professional, classified, and apprentice-level technical staff. As the Manager of Infrastructure and Cloud Engineering, you will utilize your strategic,technical, and operational experience as well as your broad understanding of:
Enterprise systems (compute, storage, virtual computing, and database) services management
Public cloud environments, such as AWS, Azure, and GCP
Automation tools such as Chef, Github
LEAN IT and Agile methodologies
Responsibilities will include:
Manage a staff of IT professionals responsible for all aspects of enterprise systems planning, design and implementation
Provide thought leadership across many aspects of our enterprise systems infrastructure in current and emerging technologies
Manage and coordinate activities of technical resources responsible for the design of enterprise systems infrastructure products and services as well as oversight of the vendors and service providers
Design and implementation of agile and innovative solutions that take advantage of technology advances that allow cost reduction, standardization and commoditization
Provide highly reliable services that enable operations to manage environments simply and effectively
Drive the adoption of standard toolsets to reduce complexity and support operational goals for increasing automation across the enterprise
Develop and execute on long range technology strategy roadmaps
Continuously assess current technology footprint and market offerings, drive technology decisions, lead PoCs of new solutions/capabilities
Planning, implementing, supporting, and maintaining hardware, software and connectivity components by analyzing the functionality of infrastructure framework and designing and planning major upgrades and changes to ensure reliability and availability
Responsible for defining, prioritizing, and supporting key initiatives and operational items
Drive and encourage high levels of automation throughout the organization
Works closely with our external partners and industry leaders to ensure we have a keen understanding of where industry trends and technologies are going and factor those into our strategies and roadmaps
Provide regular communication to peers, IT leadership and business leadership on areas for improvement, progress, milestones, and areas of success
Ensure documentation and processes are well defined
Relationship management of internal customers and external vendors
Experience with managing an enterprise systems environment
Experience in direct supervision and leadership of IT professionals in a 7x24x365 mission critical environment
Exceptional judgment, strategic thinking, and creative problem solving skills
Strong analytical mindset and approach to solving complex technical problems
Provide leadership and direction for the overall management of multiple technology domains and project initiatives
Knowledge and experience managing teams that provide automation tooling support for infrastructure
Take ownership and provide coordination of financial budget planning (CapEx and OpEx spend)
Required Education & Experience:
15+ years of relevant experience in a broad range of computer-oriented disciplines: cloud platforms, server and database administration, programming, technical analysis, troubleshooting, and documentation + supervision.
Education: Bachelors degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience. Master's degree preferred.
Training: Vendor authorized/provided technical training, computer-based course work, or professional on the job training in cloud platform, server and database administration, and supervision.
This is a full-time,
Grade 84, DOE, 12-month position complete with a competitive salary and UA employee benefits package.
