Applications are invited for the position of Executive Officer in the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences. The Executive Officer will oversee the administrative functions of a world-class research and education organization that is geographically and academically diverse. 50 Ensure compliance regarding UA human resources policies and regulations by reviewing and approving personnel transactions and developing internal procedures. Provide streamlined communications with CFOS as to updates and changes to regulations, laws and policy regarding all aspects of human resources. Supervise the HR Coordinator, Juneau-based Administrative Specialist and Seward-based Administrative Specialist providing management and training in order to accomplish priorities. Create professional development plans for subordinates and perform employee evaluations. Serve in an advisory capacity when problems arise that cannot be solved at the specialist level. Develop and monitor internal administrative policies, procedures and standards to ensure strict compliance and optimal service to the research and academic community, faculty, staff and students. Responsible for management of business office functions including, pre-award proposal coordination, travel, leasing and building management. This position is a Grade 82 (Step 1: $34.45/hr), Salary to commensurate with experience and UA employee benefits package.
Demonstrated supervisory, planning, problem solving and decision making skills.
Requires knowledge and judgment of inter-relationships between academic and research programming.
Minimum Six years in responsible, decision-making positions in private industry, higher education and/or research administration.
TYPICAL EDUCATION OR TRAINING:
Bachelor's degree in relevant field and six years progressively responsible experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Master's degree preferred.
