Position Summary:

Duties:

10Analyze and coordinate software and hardware needs of users and assist users in technology use.Essential
15Coordinate, maintain and support the campus-wide area network and connectivity to departmental required applications including; Blackboard, Zoom, Email, Skype, Banner and others.Essential
20Installation and support of classroom technology.Essential
20Manage network user access, security, and data backup.Essential
30Ensure that all network and PC-based workstations, applications, and peripherals operate properly.Essential
5Installation and testing of network equipment including routers, switches, VoIP and related cabling.Essential

About Kodiak College

Kodiak College, UAA, puts students first through innovative teaching, individualized support, and responsive service to community needs.

Kodiak College offers numerous academic credit courses that lead to occupational endorsement and undergraduate certificates and associate degrees and may be transferred to other colleges. In addition to traditional campus courses, there are a variety of alternative course formats including web-based, self-paced, and synchronous elearning courses. Academic, vocational, recreational and personal enrichment courses provide a wide array of choices for Kodiak College students. Kodiak College also provides outreach services to the U.S. Coast Guard, Kodiak Senior Center, local schools and the rural communities of Kodiak.

Coordination with other agencies broadens the programs of instruction available to local adults. Specialized courses and workshops are provided in cooperation with agencies such as the Kodiak Island Borough School District, Kodiak Area Native Association, the Kodiak Seafood and Marine Science Center, the U.S. Coast Guard, Women’s Resource and Crisis Center, Chamber of Commerce and others.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to install, maintain, update, repair desktop computing hardware and software.
  • Ability to manage equipment logistics, system setup and configuration, system security, and software installation.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance. and attach workstations to networks, Internet, and departmental and campus LAN servers.
  • Ability to implement computer networking technologies and methodologies and operate a variety of personal computers and related equipment.

Required Experience:

One (1) year college coursework in a relevant field (i.e. Information Technology or other related field) and two (2) years experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Typical Education or Training:

CompTIA A+, Network +. Security+, Cisco, Microsoft or equivalent industry certifications preferred. Extensive knowledge of computer hardware, Windows operating systems along with familiarity of networking.

Position Details:

Non-represented, Non-exempt (hourly), regular, part-time (32 hours/week) 12-month/year position. 

Compensation: Grade 77, minimum starting hourly rate: $23.54 (Includes 9% GeoDiff for Kodiak), plus a University of Alaska employee benefit package.
