Position Summary:

The School of Management at the University of Alaska Fairbanks is looking for a Part-Time staff person to serve as our travel coordinator and fiscal technician. The position will work 20 hours per week and we will work with you on creating a schedule that works for both of our needs. This is a 12-month position but we may be open to a 10 or 11 month position for the right applicant. Duties:

50Fiscal Technician Assist the Fiscal Manager with daily fiscal duties to include: procurement using established methods (procard, purchase orders, direct pays), track purchases and reconcile procard accounts, update UA Foundation accounts, and update balances for various program directors and student organizations. Create complex reports as needed. Serve as the recruiting coordinator: create and update position descriptions, create position requisitions and coordinate the recruitment process. Work closely with the recruitment committees to write vacancy announcements, create screening documents, and advertise the position. Adhere to UA policy and regulations and federal law regarding recruitment and hiring.Essential
50Travel Coordinator Serve as the travel coordinator for the School of Management, processing approximately 200 travels per year. Assist travelers with preparing the travel request in Concur, booking travel, and submitting the expense report. Train travelers in the Concur travel system as needed and work closely with the Central Travel Office to resolve errors and issues. Assist travelers with obtaining the corporate travel card. Must have a thorough understanding of and ability to interpret UA travel policies and regulations.Essential

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Strong organization and customer service skills and the ability to successfully multi-task. Must be an excellent communicator. Ability to work with a diverse group of faculty, staff and students. Advanced knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software, and strong experience with database software. Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced work environment. Ability to interpret UA and Federal travel and fiscal policies and regulations. Ability to learn the university accounting system, prepare reports for the fiscal manager, and resolve complex accounting issues. Work under intermittent supervision from the Fiscal Manager.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of two years of experience in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

TYPICAL EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

One year of college coursework in Accounting or a related field and two years of relevant experience, or a combination of training and experience. Bachelors degree is preferred.

This is a full-time, Grade 77, minimum $21.59 hourly, DOE, 12-month position complete with a competitive salary and UA employee benefits package. Probationary Period:

Pursuant to University Regulation 04.07.020, new employees of the University are employed in an at-will probationary status for the first six months of employment.   During the probationary period, employment may be terminated for no reason or any reason.  Promoted employees also serve a probationary period with limited rights of retreat.
