Join a dedicated team at a small rural campus in Dillingham, Alaska, 350 air miles southwest of Anchorage! This position provides direction and oversight of our student services department. Assists with advising, financial aid, and registration. Maintains and tracks data for reporting information and trends, and will collaborate with region-wide school administrators and community partners to develop a system that brings student services to current and prospective students.
30 Provide in-depth analysis and interpretation of student information either gathered or received and provide clear and concise communication to the campus director, leadership, faculty, staff and other UA constituents, to include external partners. Adhere to FERPA regulations and confidentiality procedures. Ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations, processes, policies and procedures and accreditation standards. Serve as member of the campus senior administrative leadership team engaged in strategic planning, decision-making, policy development and problem-solving for campus-wide issues. Conduct monthly campus student services meetings to communicate/receive information and/or concerns. Attend Student and Enrollment Services (SES) meetings, via audio and or in person when required. Work with CRCD’s Lead Student Services / Registration and Course Manager to schedule local training in various student services related subject areas, either in person or other delivery methods. 70 Direct, manage, coordinate and supervise the campus student services department. Train, evaluate and guide assigned staff in all student services related matters. Provide oversight of campus regional locations within service area, to include student support resources, student support partnerships and various postsecondary exposure efforts. Areas include but not limited to financial aid, admissions, records, enrollment management, academic advising, cultural transition, academic support services, student success, retention services and residence life/housing. Oversee regional student outreach initiatives, student success degree planning, partner support coordination, campus priorities and goals for student support units. Coordinates outreach recruitment efforts with campus advisors, maintaining active degree seeking student files and monitors student records for progress towards completion. Manages all training, coordination processes and support resources for all placement testing and academic test proctoring across region. Coordinates with campus program faculty and staff in the development of student processes and experiences. Assist in determining course offerings in response to community demand. Work with other campus staff and faculty to coordinate educational efforts for high school students including tech prep and dual credit courses. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to relate to students, potential students, as well as campus council members, regional stakeholders, and partner organizations. Demonstrated ability to use independent judgment to address varied situations and complex problems. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Must have demonstrated experience supervising and evaluating the performance of staff. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities: Knowledge of UA and UAF structure, BOR policies and UA regulations and system procedures. Experience with Banner and Degreeworks. Knowledge and experience working with rural communities.
Three year’s experience as a student services professional, or equivalent. Experience supervising and leading staff.
Required Education and/or Training:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years progressively responsible relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Position details: 10.5 months, Full-Time. Salary: $32.78/hr, DOE (this rate includes the 27% geographic differential)
