Position Summary:

The Campus Technology Services department of Matanuska-Susitna College is recruiting for a student position to support the Informational Technology needs of the campus.

Duties:

1. Answer IT Help Desk phone and E-mail. 2. Monitor customer support ticketing system and respond to support requests. 3. Assist faculty with use of classroom technology. 4. Escalate issues to CTS personnel as appropriate. 5. Minor installation and repair of staff, faculty, and lab computers. 6. Organization of office equipment and basic office duties. 7. Assist customers in accessing University technology resources. 9. Provide assistance with college computer resources, both in person and over the telephone. 10. Other duties as assigned.Essential

The Campus Technology Services (CTS) department provides Mat-Su College with IT support services that assist the college in its academic mission. The IT Student Aide provides Help Desk customer service and limited IT support.

This is a great opportunity for IT students to gain some practical experience or general students who need part time work. 

Available hours: Monday - Friday 2:00pm - 8:00pm 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Customer service skills are required.
Applicants must have experience using Windows 10 and Office 2019.
Applicants must have working knowledge of Internet browsers and e-mail clients.
Working knowledge of computer peripherals (monitors, printers/scanners, cabling) required.
Able to perform initial computer troubleshooting efforts and problem resolution to include network connectivity, peripheral devices and AD user accounts. Completed an introductory computer course or have equivalent knowledge and experience.
Be able to lift and move computer equipment.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

Sufficient education/experience to perform the responsibilities of the position.

TYPICAL EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

Completion of one (1) year in a computer related degree program or equivalent experience working in a Windows or Linux environment.
Experience working in an IT customer service (Help Desk) environment.
Experience with Microsoft Active Directory.
Working knowledge of network environments to include basic understanding of protocols and cabling.
Be self-motivated, possess excellent interpersonal skills, and work well in a team environment.

Student workers may be asked to work days & evenings to include weekends depending on the needs of the department. Schedule will be discussed at time of interview.  

NOTICE: Students must maintain enrollment and regular attendance for a minimum of at least 6 undergraduate credit hours or 6 graduate credit hours to be exempt from FICA (Social Security and Medicare) tax. A credit hour load below the minimum required for full-time student status will require the withholding of FICA tax (non-resident aliens on an appropriate visa who meet student employment criteria will continue to be exempt from FICA regardless of credit hour load). While in a student position, a student cannot hold any other type of simultaneous employment with the university.

Hourly Rate $10.50

Probationary Period:

Pursuant to University Regulation 04.07.020, new employees of the University are employed in an at-will probationary status for the first six months of employment.
