Career Services works closely with many local and national businesses and assists UAF’s diverse population with exploring majors and careers, editing resumes and cover letters, practicing interview skills, and planning career oriented events. UAF Career Services runs a dynamic fast paced office and is an integral part of the Division of General Studies - applicants are encouraged to look at our website to see how we serve students and the community.
This job provides the opportunity to network with local and national business and learn marketing, customer service, and event planning skills which will allow the chosen applicant to gain valuable knowledge and build their resume!
Position will have flexible hours between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. During heavy event weeks, applicant must be willing to work some nights and weekends. A student employee can work a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year and additional hours in the summer session upon approval.
The successful applicant will have polished interpersonal skills; give a favorable impression to the public in appearance and attitude; assist with event planning, career events, creating publicity/advertisements, designing and maintaining social media posts, website management, social networking; have excellent customer service skills and the ability to professionally handle confidential information; work independently with little supervision, possess attention to detail, organizational, problem solving, and clerical skills; ability to take initiative, multitask, and adapt to changes in workload or conflicting deadlines; desire to learn; and perform other duties as assigned.
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Applicant should be enrolled as a UAF student in a minimum of 6 credits with a minimum of GPA of 2.0, or, be a newly enrolled student.
Compensation is commensurate with experience and type of work assigned. Starting hourly rate is $10.50 per hour for a Student Assistant C position.
