Position Summary:

This position was specifically listed in the proposal and awarded funds for the Briggs Core portion of the award to develop plans for standard operating procedures governing the utilization and management of the Microbiome Core expertise and resources; maintain state-of-the-art technologies, oversee safety, compliance, maintenance and upgrades of equipment. The position will also prepare reports regarding Core use, needs and capacity. Develop plans for disseminating information, training, and service to investigators and the public process service requests including culturing, DNA/RNA sequencing, and bioinformatic support; train new users on safety and proper procedures.

Required Education & Experience: 

Masters degree in Microbiology or closely related field or at least 2 years of microbiology laboratory and bioinformatic experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Applicant will have the skills to perform culture based and molecular based characterization of microbiomes and microbial isolates. Lead the development of standard operating procedures for Microbiome characterizations in consultation with Core Director. Ability to work independently and maintain proper records. 

This is a full-time,12-month, term-funded, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA salary schedule, Grade 78, based on education and experience. This recruitment is open until filled with the initial application review taking place on January 8, 2020. Term Position:

This position is a term-funded position and is reviewed annually for contract renewal at the University's discretion.
