FA2020 Alaska Resources Library & Information Services (ARLIS) IMP Grant Project Anchorage
The Alaska Resources Library & Information Services (ARLIS) is the library of nine federal, state, and University resource management agencies. It co-located with the Consortium Library but separately managed. ARLIS provides a major natural and cultural resources information collection utilized by public resource management agencies, private industry, environmental groups, students, faculty, and the general public. This job offers the convenience of working on campus and the flexibility of working around your classes. Principal responsibility is taking a lead student role in input and metadata tasks to augment an existing bibliographic database. Incumbent will apply existing rules for description of reports, books, and articles by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service agency authors, under a grant-funded project. Under the direction of the ARLIS Technical Services Coordinator, the incumbent will work to maximize output in the project time frame. This is a two-year project that is dependent on funding.
FA2020 Student Assistant - Alaska Resources Library & Information Services (ARLIS) Anchorage
The Alaska Resources Library & Information Services (ARLIS) is the library of eight federal and state resource management agencies, in partnership with the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA). It is co-located within the UAA Consortium Library but separately managed. This job offers the convenience of working on campus and the flexibility of working around your classes. Principal responsibilities include scanning documents and physically preparing library materials to go onto the library shelves by property stamping, applying barcodes, security strips and labels; providing special maintenance as needed such as binding and mending. Other duties may include boxing, unboxing or sorting library materials; checking for duplicates; shelving and shifting of materials using Library of Congress call number systems; putting items in date or alphabetical order; assisting in database cleanup; filing; photocopying; printing from microfiche; scanning microfiche, and microfilm; recycling; retrieving items from shelves and other duties as assigned.
