The qualified candidate(s) will be expected to teach educational leadership in graduate programs as needed; take a leadership role in relationships with public schools and state agencies; participate in research, as needed; and perform college, university and community service. This is a permanent, non-tenure-track position with salary and rank based on experience. Desired start date is July 1, 2023. The position is located in Juneau, Alaska; however, the successful candidate can live elsewhere in Alaska but must relocate to Juneau for the summer in-person sessions, as needed, which are held in June and July annually.

The University of Alaska Southeast (UAS) seeks a dynamic collaborative leader to serve as the Dean of the School of Career Education (SoCE) located in downtown Juneau at the Technical Education Center (TEC). The SoCE serves approximately 500 students per semester, seeking associate degrees, undergraduate certificates, occupational endorsements, and workforce credentials in Law Enforcement, Applied Fisheries, Health Sciences, Construction Technology, Power Technology, Welding, Mining and Maritime.
The Dean is the lead academic officer, supervising faculty and staff, and day-to-day operations on the Juneau campus. The Dean reports to the UAS Provost and is part of the university’s regional leadership team working with campus directors in Ketchikan and Sitka to implement academic and workforce development programs that adhere to accreditation standards and support UAS’ regional mission.
The Dean manages the TEC budget, including grant funding, and ensures accountability in management of TEC resources. The Dean is responsible for developing and maintaining active industry, governmental, and community partnerships that support and enhance the mission of the SoCE and UAS. The Dean also works collaboratively with other UA community campuses and Career Education schools within the University of Alaska system. |
