UAS Student Housing - Resident Advisor Juneau
UAS Student Housing is seeking an immediate hire for a Resident Advisor for the Fall 2020 - Spring 2021 academic year. A Resident Advisor (RA) is a live-in paraprofessional staff member that serves as a positive leader and peer role model within the Housing and greater campus community. This position is expected to be placed within the main housing complex. Being an RA is a great way to improve your marketable skills for future employment, such as those pertaining to public speaking, customer service, conflict mediation, critical thinking and problem-solving, time management, and administrative ability. This position’s benefits include provided housing at no cost, hourly wages available for administrative tasks, and a $600 meal plan per semester of employment. Languages Tutor Temp Pool Anchorage
Tutors are hired by the Languages Department each semester (Fall and Spring) to assist students in their studies of American Sign Language, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish. Duties to include instruction, advising students in subject matter and developing a course outline, syllabus, teaching materials, and tests as needed.
CAS Research - 2020-21 Graduate Research Assistant Pool Anchorage
This is a labor pool from which the College of Arts and Sciences Mathematical and Natural Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Performing & Fine Arts will draw when graduate research assistants are needed to work on grant-funded projects. The position may be part or full time. Incumbents will join faculty and researchers who are active in conducting research in various disciplines. This will include working on one or more funded projects in these research areas under the guidance of Principal Investigators.
CAS Research - 2020-21 Student Assistant Anchorage
The College of Arts and Sciences is seeking applicants for its student employee pool to work with CAS faculty researchers. Successful applicants' duties may include the following: field and/or laboratory and/or other assistance with research projects. Assignments may require short turn-around time between issuance and completion of tasks with general or minimal supervision. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends. Must be completely dependable and be able to work independently after training. For some positions, the successful candidate must have some knowledge of laboratory procedures. Successful applicants will work on an as needed basis during the academic year and/or summer for a faculty member or faculty members with active research projects. Required experience varies: Student Assistant A: Ability to work under direct supervision. Duties generally are routine in nature and decision-making is limited; must be able to make routine decisions about assigned work in absence of immediate supervision. May require some previous training, experience and/or knowledge. Student Assistant B: Ability to work under general or intermittent supervision. Duties are varied and require some independent judgment. Some college level or comparable experience may be necessary. Student Assistant C: Ability to work under general direction. Duties require considerable knowledge and skills such as computer, research, or translation skills. Ability to exercise independent judgment and decision-making. Ability to assist faculty member with research, writing or assisting in writing technical reports; assisting in complex technical aspects of research projects. ALL LEVELS require attention to detail and timeliness in completion of assigned tasks. Requires effective and timely communication skills.

This is a pool from which the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Math and Natural Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Performing & Fine Arts will draw when research technicians are needed to work on grant-funded projects. CAS Math & Natural Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Performing & Fine Arts conducts applied and fundamental scientific research and collects, synthesizes, archives, and distributes data, specimens, and knowledge, partly through conducting field work.

Student Success Coordinator Anchorage
This is a Part-time Term position that will work 20 hours a week, Monday through Friday. Its main focus is on student success through recruitment, retention, and outreach; institutional data management; and student services with an emphasis on the Early Childhood AAS program. Requires ability to understand academic programs and communicate complex policies and procedures. Some independent decision making; defining problems, determining when regulations are definitive and when exceptions should be sought. Judgment concerning appropriate referrals.
