UAS Student Housing is hiring Resident Advisors for the Fall 2022 - Spring 2023 academic year. A Resident Advisor (RA) is a live-in paraprofessional staff member that serves as a positive leader and peer role model within the Housing and greater campus community. College of Engineering Summer Engineering Academy Staff -First Year Anchorage
The Academy staff positions will ideally be filled by UAA students from the College of Engineering or the School of Education. The positions are for 40 hours per week throughout the summer (late May- Early August). The Academy staff will: teach science and engineering concepts to participants, work with participants in small groups to develop solutions to engineering problems (construct bridges, build robots, etc.), assist with setup and take down of facilities each session. Inspiring Girls Student Assistant Fairbanks
Inspiring Girls Expeditions empowers young women to lead and succeed through science, art, and wilderness exploration. We are a collaborative, multi-institutional partnership headquartered at Oregon State University with branches at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and the University of Colorado Boulder, as well as international branches in Canada, Switzerland, Austria, Central Asia, and New Zealand. During each 12-day expedition, nine participants explore the intersection of scientific and artistic inquiry and backcountry travel, supported by an instructor team of professional scientists, artists, and guides. In small groups, the participant's design and conduct scientific projects which they present to the public at the end of their expedition. We are seeking an undergraduate student for a full-time student coordinator position in summer 2022. The student coordinator will assist our Program Coordinator, Sarah Clement, and Program Director, Joanna Young, with logistics and coordination for our three summer expeditions: Girls on Ice Alaska, Girls on Water, and Girls in the Forest. Other responsibilities include communicating with the public about Inspiring Girls Expeditions through email and social media and assisting with miscellaneous projects depending on the successful candidate’s interests and skillsets.
