Position Summary:

The UAS Ketchikan Campus is recruiting for a workforce development director with emphasis on maritime, welding and nursing programs. This person will coordinate and implement multiple workforce and career education programs based on community, regional and statewide needs. They will also be responsible for the supervision of career education staff and assist in the preparation and oversight of agreements between the Ketchikan Campus and community partners. Assist in the preparation and implementation of workforce related grants. Candidates must have a bachelors degree and three years of relevant experience.

Duties:

20Grants and Funding Assist faculty, staff, and Campus Director in grant proposal writing, editing and implementation of workforce related grants.Essential
40Administrative Operations Administrative management and support staff supervision for workforce development and career education. Responsible for recruitment and supervision of the Marine Transportation Coordinator, Career Education Coordinator and Lab Manager, Maritime Lab Assistants and other positions involved with workforce programs. Assist in preparation and oversight of agreements between UAS Ketchikan and community partners, their activities, and other UA partners. Prepare reports and proposals for the Campus Director regarding workforce development programs.Essential
40Program Development Coordinate the development and implementation of multiple workforce and career education programs based on community, regional and statewide needs. Coordinate and implement outreach to the Ketchikan community as well as other communities in southeast Alaska. Work closely with the Campus Director and faculty to monitor and implement career education and workforce programs regionally.Essential
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of career education and workforce development programs. Ability to
create comprehensive reports. Ability to develop and maintain effective working
relationships. Ability to work independently and ensure integrity of programs and
compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Preferred Experience & Education:
Experience in post-secondary education setting. Experience in the maritime
industry. Three years of experience in career education or workforce programs at the post-
secondary level.Master’s degree preferred.
Required Experience & Education:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three years of relevant experience.

Salary Information:

This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt, term-funded, staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 80, based on education and experience.
