Position Summary:

The Alaska Center for Energy and Power (ACEP) provides valuable learning and job opportunities for UA students in a variety of fields including energy, engineering, and technology. If you would like to increase your experience in the field of research and energy, please consider applying to ACEP's Student Assistant pool. Multiple departments within ACEP may be hiring from this pool during the year, and duties assigned will vary depending on the specific department’s needs.

Duties:

100Job duties will vary based on position but may include: Assist with the upkeep and generation of confidential files, technical/educational materials, publications, display materials, presentation materials and other related items. May be responsible for the timely production and publication articles and stories. Solid understanding of databases methodology to design and use new databases. Assist with the development and engineering of software. Assist in desktop and network troubleshooting, support. Provide computer consulting for University faculty, staff and students. Perform maintenance on microcomputers and accessories. Assist with development, production and maintenance of web pages and sites. Create graphics for the web. Carry out work in the field and in the laboratory. Laboratory work will include duties such as sample preparation and washing glassware. Perform data entry into spreadsheets databases. Look for anomalies and errors in data. Ability to use the UA Banner system to enter accurately and look up information and data. Perform maintenance and repair of vehicles, scientific equipment, motors, pumps, building and/or maintaining fencing, storage sheds, cages, and assorted construction duties. Collect and maintain research data, data entry, travel to research sites, expediter duties, operating research equipment, moving supplies and equipment. Assist in creating and maintaining complex system software, at the direction of the system administrators. This software might be layered software packages, system utilities, or other system applications. Write and design technical documentation.Essential

Required Experience & Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Applicant should be enrolled as a UA student in a minimum of 6 credits with a minimum GPA of 2.0, or a newly enrolled student.

Salary Information:

This is a non-exempt, hourly, student position. New hires will be placed on the Student Salary Grid, based on education and experience.

Special Instructions to Applicants:

This position will be physically located at the UAF campus in Fairbanks, Alaska. The successful finalist will be expected to report to duty at the UAF office on the first day of employment.
