Position Summary:
Information Technology (IT) Services is looking for applicants to fill our IT Administrative Student Worker position. Join the IT Business Office team, and serve as one of the front lines of contact at UAA. This entry-level, part-time, position is open to eligible students, and offers opportunities to learn about working in a professional environment while attending college.
Duties:
30Switchboard Operations - Serve as the first point of contact for the University of Alaska Anchorage switchboard. Answer phone calls in a professional manner. Assist callers by directing them to the department or person they are seeking, and with general university questions. Maintain a calm and professional manner with all callers. Assist with Directory Update requests, create tickets for Directory Update Requests to either complete or escalate to applicable team, and reply to requests with updates.Essential
70Office Assistant - Serve as a front desk assistant at the main IT Services office. This includes greeting and directing visitors, checking out keys to vendors, checking in and out equipment for Desktop Services repair work, and accepting and processing payments. Other administrative tasks include filing of electronic and printed records, data entry and reconciliation, management of sensitive records, processing of incoming and outgoing mail, and other tasks as assigned.Essential

- Knowledge of or ability to learn about the departments and resources at UAA.
- Ability to work in a diverse environment of students, faculty, and staff.
- Basic computer skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Ability to multitask, and maintain productivity.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Customer service skills.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Familiarity with general office equipment and multi-line phone system.
- Ability to handle high call volumes.
- General organizational skills.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds (with or without reasonable accommodations).

Typical Experience: |
Previous experience in customer service and/or in a technology service center is preferred, but not required.

Required Education or Training: |
High school diploma or GED To be eligible for student employment, an applicant must: a. Be enrolled in the University of Alaska system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment; or b. Have been enrolled the preceding semester for six or more credit hours and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters; and c. Have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or approval from the MAU Senior Student Services officer or his/her designee. d. Students enrolled in nontraditional programs of study will be considered eligible for student employment with the approval of the Senior Student Services officer. e. An applicant must provide evidence of enrollment as outlined above to substantiate employment eligibility.

Salary Information: |
This is a part-time position up to 20 hours per week while school is in session. Additional hours may be available during the summer and winter breaks. Starting hourly rate is $13.55/hour.
