Position Summary:

Facilities Services is seeking applicants for MSW4 Maintenance Technician. The typical work schedule will be M-F, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. The successful applicant will demonstrate at least one year in a field related to this position. Duties:

100This is a union represented position. Perform preventative maintenance to support the successful operations of the general services provided by Facilities Services Department of Maintenance. Under the supervision of the Housing and Dining Shop Manager. •Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs of the heating, water and sanitary drainage systems. •Inspect, adjust, or repair various plumbing fixtures and open clogged drains, •Assist journeyman in the installation and repair of plumbing fixtures, piping, and other equipment. •Use hand and power tools common to the trade, •Perform other duties as assigned, •Observe safety rules and regulations, and •Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor to schedule repairs. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: -Ability to interact and communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and customers
-Must be able to lift seventy pounds.

-Ability to prioritize and consistently complete assigned work in a reasonable amount of time

-Collect equipment data by a variety of methods,
-Anticipate equipment need and take effective action;

-Learn plumbing and preventative maintenance techniques;
-Must be willing and able to work in areas that may contain hazardous materials and substances;
-Must have and always maintain a current valid Drivers License to hold this position.
Typical Experience:
The successful applicant will demonstrate at least one year in a field related to this position (construction or maintenance). Basic knowledge/experience in the plumbing field. Basic knowledge/experience in reading blueprints.

Required Education or Training:

High School graduate or equivalent.

Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record.

Salary Information:

MSW4 Step 1 - $20.86/hr

This is a full-time, 12-month, non-exempt staff position with a competitive salary and full employee benefits package
