Position Summary:

We seek a candidate for part-time employment in spring 2023 and full-time employment in summer 2023 as an Assistant Program Coordinator. The Assistant Program Coordinator will assist our Lead Program Coordinator, Sarah Clement, and Program Director, Joanna Young, with logistics, administration, and coordination for our three summer expeditions: Girls* on Ice Alaska, Girls* on Water, and Girls* in the Forest. Responsibilities will include communicating about Inspiring Girls* Expeditions Alaska through email and social media and assisting with miscellaneous projects.

Duties:

25Communications -Answer general questions from the main UAF program email account. -Assist with Inspiring Girls* Expeditions Alaska social media (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter). -Participate in on- and off-campus events (e.g., Arctic Research Open House, UA Day at the Tanana Valley State Fair) to promote Inspiring Girls* Expeditions AlaskaEssential
25Miscellaneous Projects, as needed -Data entry and organization. -Photo organization. -Other projects may be available depending on the candidate’s interests and skill set.Essential
50Program Assistance and Coordination -Assist with preparations for three expeditions that will take place in summer 2023: Girls on Ice Alaska, Girls on Water, and Girls in the Forest -Manage participant enrollment in expeditions by collecting and organizing participant intake forms and acting as the primary contact via phone and email for participants and their families. -Assist Program Coordinator with expedition planning logistics (e.g. making reservations, communicating with UAF departments, moving gear out of storage and organizing the program’s summer classroom (expedition prep space), etc.) -Assist instructor teams with logistics during expedition preparation and clean-up, including in-town camp set up, gear organization, food and gear packing, and other expedition logistics as needed.Essential

Required Education or Training:

High school diploma or equivalent and experience as it relates to this position.

Salary Information:

This is a part-time position during the Spring 2023 with 40 hours per pay period and full-time during the Summer 2023 with 80 hours per pay period, non-exempt, temporary clerical position. Compensation starts at $22.36 per hour.
