Position Summary:

UAS Facilities Services is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. Under general supervision, this position performs a variety of routine carpentry related maintenance, repair, construction and alterations associated with UAS buildings and facilities.

Duties:

10Additional duties may include a variety of maintenance, repair and construction tasks in combination with other trades requiring less than journeyman skills in any one of the tradesEssential
10Construct forms and pour concrete.Essential
10Demolish and construct interior building partitions.Essential
10Install and finish drywall, siding, framing, and roofing, doors, windows, moldings, trim, cabinets, floor material, etc.Essential
10Keep daily records of work performed.Essential
10Maintain building interiors, exteriors, doors, windows, furniture and other items.Essential
12Inspect buildings and facilities for needed services and repairs.Essential
12Operate all types of craft related power tools and equipment including conventional and airless sprayers, compressors, work platforms, etc.Essential
16Work from work orders, plans, drawings, blueprints and manufacturers instructions.Essential

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Must possess proficient knowledge in the carpentry trade, including the safe operation of basic hand and power tools and safety practices in the work place.

Valid Alaska Driver's License, with acceptable driving record.

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

Consideration will be given for certificates, licenses and training in other building trades as well.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

At least apprentice level certification or other equivalent evidence appropriate to the carpentry trade; with a minimum of five years related experience in commercial and/or residential carpentry, and/or; an equivalent combination.
Must posses proficient knowledge in the carpentry trade, including the safe operation of basic hand and power tools and safety practices in the work place.

This position is a term-funded position and is reviewed annually for contract renewal at the University's discretion.
