Position Summary:

Do you have a passion for undergraduate students AND research? Come work for the Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarly Activity (URSA) and you will be able to help students find research opportunities while supporting and encouraging their success at UAF!

Duties:

10Facilitate: Serve as the student, staff, and faculty, and administrator point of contact serving as a clearing house for information about research and scholarly activity opportunities and mentors.Essential
15Other: Assess: Evaluate the outcomes of student research and propose adjustments to programs to enhance outcomes. Document: Archive student projects, benefits to all participants, and track student progress after degree completion. Printing: Maintain plotter printer and print posters for undergraduate students throughout the year.Essential
20Event Planning: Plan and execute campus-wide Research and Creative Activity Day for 150-200 people each April.Essential
25Process: Create and update award applications each round. Administer the solicitation and evaluation of applications. Work with fiscal staff to coordinate distribution of funding. Provide timely information to students and mentors regarding their award requirements. Assist with and participate in student cohort activities.Essential
30Promote: Communicate with students, staff, and faculty, and administrators to make them aware of opportunities for and support of undergraduate research and scholarly activities through a variety of venues and personal communications across UAF. Maintain the URSA website. Attend on- and off-campus events to promote URSA. Create print-based materials, social-media posts(e.g., Instagram, Facebook, Twitter), and videos to increase awareness and to encourage participation. Assist with and participate in student ambassador program activities.Essential

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

•Proven skill communicating with University, administrators, faculty, staff, and students and the general public.
•Ability to take initiative and work independently.
•Experience interacting regularly with students, staff, faculty, and staff and administrators.

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

•1-2 years direct involvement in a multi-month research education and/or educational outreach project from inception to termination.
•1-2 years of experience with program development.
•1-2 years of experience working with academic programs in an academic institute.
•Banner, OUCampus, Excel and Filemaker, graphic design, social media, interviewing skills, and video editing.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of work and experience.

This is a full time, Grade 78, minimum $23.84 hourly, DOE, 12-month position complete with a competitive salary and UA employee benefits package.
