This student assistant job posting is unique as multiple campuses within the College of Rural and Community Development may be hiring from this pool of applicants. The posting is designed to aid in filling an unexpected vacancy or an urgent need on a part-time or full-time, temporary basis. This is a part-time student position, with various hours on an as-needed basis, with no benefits. Duties include but are not limited to: answering the multi-line phone system, copying, scanning, faxing, filing, data entry, compiling paperwork, and expediting.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

•Working knowledge of MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and database applications with the ability to perform data searches using the internet.
•Ability to pay close attention to detail, work in a proficient and organized manner, follow instructions and work without close supervision at times.
•Must be able to maintain confidentiality and security of all information.
•Must show demonstrated knowledge of general office procedures and practices.
•Must possess basic clerical skills including accurate typing and filing.
•Must be familiar with office equipment (fax, copier, calculators, personal computers).
•Must be able to type at an acceptable speed with a high rate of accuracy.
•Exceptional communication skills desired as this position, at times, works directly with the public.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

High School Diploma or equivalent, and full-time UAF status required.

To be eligible for student employment, an applicant must:

a) Be enrolled in the University of Alaska system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment
b) Have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or approval from the MAU Senior Student Services officer or his/her designee.

This position varies in salary based on the position and duties hired for, Student Assistant 2 salary scale ($11.34/hr), DOE. Please note that based upon geographic location, the hiring authority for the position may negotiate a higher rate to ensure fair and equitable compensation.
