Duties:

100Keeps building and grounds in clean and orderly condition including but not limited to trash removal, raking, mowing, spraying, and other general maintenance. Removes hazards from buildings and grounds including snow, ice, debris, animal wastes, construction materials, and other items as required. Assist in maintaining building and grounds including repairing fences, gates, landscape, walls, walks, and signs. Drives vehicles and small equipment including tractors, forklifts, small to medium sized trucks, and vans. Uses files, requisitions, and work orders, including computerized systems, to maintain inventories and issue materials. Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins and performs periodic inventories. Conveys materials and items from receiving areas to storage or other designated areas.Essential

This temporary custodial/maintenance service worker job posting is unique as multiple campuses within the College of Rural and Community Development may be hiring from this pool of applicants. The posting is designed to aid in filling an unexpected vacancy or an urgent need on a part-time or full-time, temporary basis. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, lift and use a ladder.  Ability to lift and or move up to 50 lbs.  Ability to read and interpret documents.

This position provides backup and additional on-call coverage for the permanent custodian. It's required to maintain and ensure the safe and clean physical operation of the Campus facilities.

Current Alaska Driver's License.

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to add, subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

This position varies in salary based on the position and duties hired for, Temp salary scale Grade MSW1 ($14.21/hr). Please note the following regions have a geographic differential that will be incorporated into the final salary amount:

  • Bethel (38%)
  • Dillingham, Aleutian Islands, Adak, Sand Point, Bristol Bay (27%)
  • Additional locations might have applicable geographic differential and the appropriate hiring authority will discuss this upon a request to offer.
