Position Summary:

Kachemak Bay Campus in Homer is seeking to fill it's Maintenance Service Worker II position. Under supervision, the successful candidate will routinely care for facilities and grounds and perform a variety of custodial, semi-skilled building maintenance and light construction duties in a combination of several trades or crafts such as carpentry, painting, landscape and maintenance.

Duties:

100Job Duties: Maintain two buildings and grounds in clean and orderly condition including but not limited to vacuuming, restroom cleaning, sanitizing, window-washing, trash removal, raking, mowing, carpet cleaning, floors and other general cleaning, custodial and maintenance activities.. Assist in maintaining interior/exterior of building and grounds including landscape, parking lots, walls, walkways, doors, rooms, and signs. Operate vehicles and equipment including lawn mower, snow blower, truck, car and van. Operate power and manual cleaning tools. Remove hazards from buildings and grounds including snow, ice, debris, animal wastes, construction materials, and other items as required. Assist in minor shop work in constructing structures including making minor repairs to and/or assembly and reassembly as necessary. Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, maintenance instructions and manuals. Use computer for various tasks; email, word processing, form completion. Convey materials and items from receiving areas to storage or other designated areas. Kachemak Bay Campus in Homer is looking for an exceptional individual to fill the Maintenance Service Worker II position. Under supervision, the successful candidate will routinely care for facilities and grounds and perform a variety of custodial, semi-skilled building maintenance and light construction duties in a combination of several trades or crafts such as carpentry, painting, landscape and maintenance. This is a 12-month, part time position, 35 hours per week, $16.16 per hour (DOE), starting in May/June 2022. It includes daily Mon- Fri. afternoon/evening work hours. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Effective interpersonal, problem-solving and mathematical skills and reasoning abilities.
Computer use skills,
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend instructions.
Ability to effectively present information in one-to-one situations to other employees.
Includes lifting and/or moving 70lbs.

Preferred:
Demonstrated Hazmat knowledge, computer skills, strong sense of initiative and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of commercial cleaning tasks, methods, functions and needs.
Knowledge of and the ability to assist with maintenance and repair of machinery, equipment, physical structures and landscaping projects.

Ability to use computers for word processing, email, information research and other tasks on a routine basis.

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

Custodial and light maintenance experience in commercial facility
including bathroom cleaning, trash removal, floor, wall and furniture cleaning.

Preferred: Experience performing tasks in safe manner, operating commercial cleaning, yard maintenance and snow removal equipment. Demonstrated work history in positions of responsibility, safety and trust. Experience working around chemicals used in commercial buildings.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

Any combination of education and experience which clearly demonstrates the skills and abilities necessary to accomplish the essential functions of the job.
