Position Summary:

The UA Foundation manages all charitable donations to UA and related data. This position provides support for the data collecting function of the Foundation. In addition, this position takes a lead role in developing online and web services for donors, alumni and friends of UA.

Duties:

10Training and Support -- Coordinate RE training programs with Senior Data Analyst. Develops, writes, and edits computing-related technical and administrative documentation and publications. -- Provide training to all RE users at UAF and SW in general use, querying, exporting, reports, dashboards and specific requests. Explains relationships of data tables and complexity of querying language. --Performs training of PaperSave document archiving tool for digitizing documents to Raisers Edge. use practices. Includes training on Payment Card Industry (PCI) rules for proper usage and entry of credit card transactions. --Performs installation, configuration and maintenance of Raisers Edge and other Foundation softwares on user workstations. Diagnoses and resolves problems with software and hardware on Mac and PC platforms and Citrix Client-Server Programs --Maintains equipment functionality and resolves or redirects problems as needed to OIT (desktop stations, mobile equipment, printers, scanners, etc.) --Confers with and trains users for additional service needs as requested. Coordinates with vendors, OIT and other departments to insure smooth use of Foundation softwares --Performs highly technical responsible work in providing computer services and office automation support related to: implementing and maintaining personal computer systems, staff workstations, automation equipment and devices. 15Data Administration, Integrity and Systems Coordination --Coordinates with supervisor to establish security measures, procedures, and settings against unauthorized use. Jointly plans for general web environment and disaster recovery of lost information with Senior Data Analyst and Systems Administrator and Applications Administrator. -- Regular coordination with Senior Data Analyst and other Data Analysts on issues of data integrity, maintenance and planning -- Regular coordination with UAF and SW campus staff to determine best strategies involving data use and planning -- Coordinate and implement policies and procedures with Foundation staff and campus staff --Implements and enforces security measures to safeguard information in general web environments and computer files against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure. 30Data extraction and Inputs --Working under general supervision and using a variety of methods, this position extracts data from Raisers Edge database and back end tables and other data sources to meet users’ needs and requests for information. Assess complexity of requests, forwards extremely complex ones to senior data analyst. Within established guidelines, this position prioritizes requests and work activities. Chooses among established methods and procedures for best results. --Performs advanced operations in Raisers Edge including batch processes, queries, and extracts. --Serves as backup to Senior Data Analyst for running automated processes, performing queries, building complex data extracts. Resolves problems with these duties. --Solves problems with no precedent or having no prescribed remedy. Requires considerable analysis of conflicting issues for --Creates, updates, corrects constituent data in Raisers Edge. Identifies errors during data entry. Researches for updates and checks for data integrity. Resolves all conflicts, discrepancies, and errors. Identifies duplicates, incomplete records, and needed records. Resolves all problems. Adheres to Red Flags rules, Payment Card Industry, and other general industry-standard security practices. --Responsible for reviewing data entry and inputs in Raisers Edge and notifies users when procedures have not been followed. Provides assistance in implementing changes. Designs and develops specifications for database entry. --Designs, develops and tests ad hoc databases and entry applications in MS Access, FileMaker Pro, SQL, Visual Studio, Crystal Reports, Tableau and other relational database tools to support and/or compliment Raisers Edge. Programs tools to automate data-entry across numerous applications. Maintain user-oriented applications and interfaces for data entry. --Receives updates to confidential constituent information from internal and external sources. Processes updates in Raisers Edge using a variety of methods including manual data entry, programmed and automated entry. --Programs templates in Raisers Edge for global adds, changes, updates and deletions. --Solves problems with no precedent or having no prescribed remedy. Requires considerable analysis of conflicting issues for resolution of technical problems associated with the limitations of data systems and conflicting data found between systems.Essential
40Online data/info services -- Provide content and maintenance for online info services: web, online giving, calendar coordination. Acts as department liaison to OIT for joint troubleshooting and resolving of problems. Implement and maintain and act as lead developer for OU School, Google Sites, and Word Press web platforms. Act as support developer for Blackbaud Net Community. --Recognized as expert resource for general all-purpose web platforms. --Engineer and/or maintain general web systems for end users including staff, alumni and donors --Solve web platforms implementation and maintenance problems with no known protocols or resolutions.Essential
5Monitor industry innovations -- Monitor industry communications for important developments in BB products, related practices and philanthropy. Serves as expert advisor for innovative approaches and new technologies.Essential

 

This is a full-time, term-funded, Grade 78, minimum $23.84/hr, DOE, 12-month position complete with a competitive salary and UA employee benefits package

This position may be located in Anchorage or Fairbanks.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Relational database and development skills; advanced computer skills for sophisticated, complex software programs; ability to exercise critical discretion and confidentiality; research methodology and data manipulation and interpretation; Report preparation and formatting experience for best viewing. Ability to coordinate and direct the most complex and sophisticated web platforms.

A blend of computer technical skills and awareness of the fund-raising function is preferable for the individual in this position. An ability to work independently and conduct research is required. An ability to work with and communicate with a wide range of people, both objectively and subjectively, and to write, edit, and proofread written materials.

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

3 years of progressive, high level experience working with Blackbaud's Raisers Edge. Demonstrated advanced and broad knowledge of relational database models and troubleshooting of complex problems with no-known remedies. The applicant must have experience and theoretical knowledge of computer systems and applications, database design, and systems functionality. Requires broad understanding of data systems and resolution strategies where problems often require considerable analysis to resolve. Experience in training personnel on basic fundraising technologies. Ability to solve a variety of complex problems related to data systems including diagnosing and troubleshooting problems with applications, software and hardware. Ability to lead small teams in a collaboration environment. Project coordination skills such as Scrum, Kanban, or other Agile-based methods.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

Associates degree in computer science, information management or equivalent combination of experience including database theory, advanced computer usage, diagnostic techniques, functions of information systems. Experience may substitute for some of the education. Bachelors preferred.

2-3 years of database experience in a fundraising or similar environment. Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in all Windows and Office applications, with particular proficiency in Excel, Access and Word. Web development experience. Knowledge in using Raiser’s Edge or Banner Student or similar applications. Strong attention to detail and accuracy skills
