Position Summary:

The Center for Human Development at the University of Alaska Anchorage is seeking applications for a Training Coordinator.

35Plan and administer training program activities specific to the Family Services Training Center with strong emphasis on evidenced based practices and foundational family services interventions that align with services outlined in the Medicaid 1115 behavioral health implementation plan. 35Provide and/or facilitate multi-disciplinary training workshops and statewide conferences for paraprofessionals, professionals and stakeholders providing family services across Alaska. About the Center for Human Development:
The Center for Human Development (CHD) is a University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities in Education, Research, and Service (UCEDDs) authorized by the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000. There are 67 UCEDDs, at least one in every state and territory, which form an Association of UCEDD's ( Since CHD is the only UCEDD in Alaska, we serve the entire state.
The UAA Center for Human Development has 4 major functions:

  • Community training and technical assistance

  • Information dissemination
These activities are designed to increase the independence, productivity, and community integration and inclusion for individuals with disabilities. CHD’s projects and activities are not limited to developmental disabilities; they focus on a wide range of disabilities, ages, and issues.
Position Summary:
This position will provide coordination and facilitate non-academic training instruction for the professional/licensed behavioral health service provider workforce and support career development opportunities for paraprofessionals, professionals and stakeholders providing child and family services across Alaska. This position requires knowledge of evidence-based family treatment models and foundational family engagement interventions for Alaska State Behavioral Health Providers. This position will also be a training team member and serve as the lead for both in-person and distance delivered program training activities focused on collaborating with Alaskan communities to train rural behavioral health care providers. Knowledge of Behavioral Health professional/clinical services background and understanding of/experience in rural Alaska beneficial.
This position will work under the supervision of the Family Services Training Center (FSTC) Director at the UAA Center for Human Development.
The grant funded FSTC program mission is to develop and implement a family services training center to provide family treatment model trainings to Alaska State Behavioral Health Providers, by ensuring that training technical assistance and workforce training is accessible and coordinated statewide.
The FSTC is funded through a collaboration of the Department of Behavioral Health, the Mental Health Trust Authority, and the UAA Center for Human Development.


  • Knowledge of evidence-based family treatment models and foundational family engagement interventions for Alaska State Behavioral Health Providers.
  • Knowledge of disabilities related to mental illness and behavioral health disabilities in the context of services to families and children.
  • Ability to design instructional materials and deliver mental health/behavioral health content for various methods of training delivery.
  • Ability to train others.
  • Ability to facilitate stakeholder groups and meetings.

Typical Experience:

  • Two years working in the field of child and family behavioral health with experience as an education coordinator and/or staff development coordinator.
  • Experience in managing complex projects.

Preference for four years working in the field of child and family behavioral health with experience as an education coordinator and/or staff development coordinator.

Required Education or Training:
Bachelor's degree in nursing, social work, psychology, human services, or related field and two years experience, or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience in family systems and child mental health.

Preference for Master's degree and clinical license in nursing, social work, psychology, with an emphasis on family systems and child mental health.

Assignment Information:
This is a full-time, term-funded, Grade 79, minimum $26.08/hr, DOE, 12-month position complete with a competitive salary and UA employee benefits package.
