Nanook Recreation and the Student Recreation Center is looking for dependable student employees to join our staff. Knowledge of UAF, Nanook Recreation and the SRC is helpful, but not necessary.
Nanook Recreation is looking for UAF students to be on our Member Services team for 2021-2022! Pay starting at $12.00 an hour depending on experience.
This position is conveniently located in the Student Recreation Center, a fun place and a fun team. You will be the main point of contact for all things recreation as well as vital in maintaining a welcoming and clean environment for members. While this position is based in the SRC, this team takes care of many needs in the Patty Ice Arena, the Patty Pool, and the West Ridge Fitness Center. Professionalism, excellent customer service skills and teamwork skills are a must. The SRC is open every day so we can work around your class schedule. Join the team today!
Front Desk Operations: Perform customer service duties and answer inquiries via phone, in person and email. Operate office equipment including multi-line phones, copiers, cash register and credit card machine. Assist UAF students, staff, faculty, alumni and visitors with their recreation needs. Sell memberships, take payments, balance shift sales, record, scan, file, clean, enforce facility policies, other duties as assigned and more.
SRC Operations: Help members obtain and use recreational equipment, maintain member cleaning stations, put away rogue equipment, disinfect equipment, backup the front desk as needed, give tours of the SRC, Patty Ice, Patty Pool and Outdoor Adventures, help patrons understand the rules of the facilities, other duties as assigned and more.
Options: There is the potential for extra flexibility if you are a high achiever, we can provide training and additional earning opportunities in areas of interest such as in the climbing wall, group fitness instruction, intramural refereeing, personal training, administrative operations, etc.
All work is done after a thorough training and under the supervision of and with the support of professional Nanook Recreation staff as well as your teammates.

Preference for 6+ months of customer service experience.
Required Training or Eductation:
CPR/1st aid certified or willing to become certified.
As this is a position with multiple spots to fill, there will likely be multiple review dates throughout the academic year. We will review applications when there is an operational need to do so.
Student Employment Qualifications:
This position is for UAF students, therefore applicants must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours during the fall or spring semester, whichever is current or next, and have a GPA of at least 2.0 or a newly enrolled student.
