Mat-Su College seeks a Web and Digital Media Specialist ready to take our outreach efforts to a new level. This position promotes Mat-Su College and the Glenn Massay Theater to prospective and current students, and the community by delivering engaging and creative content via multiple social media applications, the college website, online campaigns, video content, print publications, and promotional events. Working within a team of student services professionals, this position serves as the key campus resource on the college web site and contributes materially to campus and marketing and student recruitment efforts. Reports to the Director of Student Services. The ideal candidate must be creative, well versed in current communication practices, comfortable working in a team environment, and able to accept and benefit from feedback. Must have strong web editing, digital graphic, photographic, video, and writing skills and an eye for detail. Standard hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Some hours outside of the standard hours may be required on occasion to cover evening and weekend events, both on and off campus.

20 College Promotional Efforts:
Continually seek new content for Mat-Su College news items and feature stories that highlight campus events, student achievements, faculty, staff and the best of Mat-Su College and the Glenn Massay Theater. Conduct interviews with students, faculty, and administrators for feature stories and press releases. Develop content and write press releases and pitch to news sources.
Contribute materially to planning efforts and provide expertise and perspective on social media and online marketing avenues. Research and evaluate communications and outreach campaigns. Work closely with department directors and college and theater staff to determine and meet campus-wide marketing and communication needs.
Write and edit copy for College publications including newsletters, brochures, video scripts, print and online advertising, and other promotional efforts.
Work closely with the Public Relations and Marketing Specialist when setting up the annual Alaska State Fair cabin, to include creating and promoting the booth staffing sign-up sheet, designing and ordering the annual t-shirts, and alternating full coverage of the booth with the Public Relations and Marketing Specialist for the duration of the Fair event. 20 Content Creation:
Create and develop original materials for marketing and outreach, including online ads, print pieces, web graphics, and recorded or live video content. Provide photographic services for special events, staff and faculty profile photos, commencement, and other events as needed by the campus. Secure media releases from subjects. Infuse descriptions of Mat-Su College opportunities with visuals of current students and faculty to accurately represent the best of Mat- Su College and the campus community. Select appropriate software for promotions, web publishing, and design of promotional materials.
Design video content and commercials for promotional needs for YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and other social media outlets, as well as the Mat-Su College website. Make use of features like Facebook Live and YouTube Livestream to stream necessary content to the public, for example, a public lecture in the theater or the annual commencement ceremony.
Design web and print content such as posters for events, promotional brochures, and questionnaires to use for marketing and research. Create and order new business cards and name badges for faculty and staff as needed. Essential
30 Social Media Marketing:
Manage Mat-Su Colleges social media accounts for the goal of engaging new and prospective students within the campus and community. Post news, visuals, videos, live streams, and updates on a regular basis. Actively seek content to help students stay abreast of campus and theater events, as well as enrollment periods and academic deadlines. Manage and respond to messages and posts in a timely manner. 30 Web Content Creation and Management:
Through active campus departmental communication and coordination, design and create new web pages by researching subject area and coordinating with students, staff, and faculty on content and visuals. Regularly audit college website and work with faculty and staff to maintain up-to-date and accurate descriptions of academic programs, services, procedures, and events. Coordinate with UAA Web Apps Team and 25Live Calendar Administrator and serve as the campus expert in web tools and applications. Maintain the online campus calendar, through 25Live. Train departments, if requested, on maintaining departmental web pages via the web platform. Provide technical support for website.
Participate on college and UA committees charged with establishing objectives, standards, and guidelines for appropriate content, images, and inclusive best practices. Ensure strict compliance with ADA requirements for online access per OCR resolution process and act as campus representative on ADA requirements governing online access as well as best practices. Upon receiving departmental materials for online use, convert materials to the proper ADA requirements for accessibility, as needed.
Create reports on web site analytics and present to campus administrators. Based on analytics, develop processes to ensure an effective web presence that enhances the reputation of Mat-Su College and provides a productive experience for users. Actively seek feedback from students and the campus community on the effectiveness of the campus web site.
Update the campus directories as needed, to include the online phone directory, organizational chart, departmental pages and information, and inserting the names and photos of new hires within each department. Essential

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, social sciences, or related field and two years relevant experience, or training and experience equivalent to the above.
This is a full-time, regular,
Grade 78, minimum $23.84/hr, DOE, 12-month position complete with a competitive salary and UA employee benefits package.
