Position Summary:

The UAA Facilities Operations and Maintenance Department is looking for a dependable and organized student to join our team! Students will assist the preventive maintenance manager with data entry, finding and uploading operation and maintenance manuals, creating and printing QR codes, labelling equipment, and ensuring preventive maintenance standards are accurate.


The student should be a self-starter and punctual to work. The student must be able to work independently and in a diverse group setting including following instructions given by management and/or a lead; relating in a positive manner to management and other employees; and assisting in providing a productive and safe work environment. The ideal candidate would have attention to detail and computer experience that includes word processing, spreadsheets, email communication, web browsing/searching, and data entry. This is a part time position providing up to 20 hours per week, flexibly scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00am to 3:30pm. During winter/spring breaks, students have the option to increase their work hours to 40 hours per week while classes are not in session. All working schedules are subject to change as required by the university. Students must have the ability to problem solve; the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; the ability to effectively communicate, oral and written, with other employees of the organization and the UAA community, follow directions, and provide feedback to the supervisor; and the ability to type.Essential

The student must regularly lift and/or move 10 to 25 pounds and on occasion lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the student will regularly work in outside weather conditions. The student is sometimes exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration as well as wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud.

Valid driver's license and current DMV driving record meeting EHS safe driver criteria will be required for consideration (to be verified by UAA). Students must submit a copy of their driving record with their application packet (no older than 30 days).

NOTICE: Students must maintain enrollment and regular attendance for a minimum of at least 6 undergraduate credit hours or 6 graduate credit hours to be exempt from FICA (Social Security and Medicare) tax. A credit hour load below the minimum required for full-time student status will require the withholding of FICA tax (non-resident aliens on an appropriate visa who meet student employment criteria will continue to be exempt from FICA regardless of credit hour load). While in a student position, a student cannot hold any other type of simultaneous employment with the university.
