Position Summary:

The School of Nursing is seeking applications for Resource Center Student Lab Assistants. The schedule for this position is flexible, depending on the needs of the labs and the student worker’s school schedule. This is a part-time, temporary position, with up to 20 hours per week.

Duties:

100Assisting the graduate assistant with setting up/cleaning up the nursing skills labs for students and instructors. Assisting instructors with various needs during labs. Helping students during open labs. Keeping inventory of supplies. Various other duties as assigned by the grad assistant and NRC Coordinator.Essential

Experience:
Taking pre-nursing classes or classes towards a healthcare-related degree program

Education/Training:
To be eligible for student employment at UAA, a student must:

  1. Be enrolled in the university system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment; or
  2. For employment between semesters, have successfully completed six or more UA credit hours in the preceding semester and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester; and
  3. Not work hours which interfere with class attendance; and
  4. Have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average.

Assignment Information:
Temporary, Non-Exempt (Hourly), Part-Time, work up to 20 hours per week

This is a pooled position.  Applicants will be hired as needed.

Rate of Pay:  $10.50 per hour

Expectations:

  • Arrive on time to all scheduled sessions, prepared to act in a professional manner
  • Notify supervisor in a timely manner of any schedule conflicts
  • Support and care about student success

NOTICE:
Students must maintain enrollment and regular attendance for a minimum of at least 6 undergraduate credit hours or 6 graduate credit hours to be exempt from FICA (Social Security and Medicare) tax. A credit hour load below the minimum required for full-time student status will require the withholding of FICA tax (non-resident aliens on an appropriate visa who meet student employment criteria will continue to be exempt from FICA regardless of credit hour load). While in a student position, a student cannot hold any other type of simultaneous employment with the university.
