Position Summary:

UAA is seeking applicants for a part-time, Term Strategic Operations and Special Contracts Manager. This position will assist UAA to improve internal processes for handling and negotiating contracts and agreements, especially those with federal agencies. Further, this position will seek opportunities to grow UAA’s externally funded federal portfolio as well as contribute to team development, proposal preparation, and subsequent contract negotiation if awarded. This position is expected to develop/design improvements and convey these to leadership positions within the Office of Research and other central units where the improvements are applicable.

30Engage and negotiate contracts and other agreements in support of the Office of Sponsored Programs. Specifically, provide special expertise in federal agreements.Essential
30Evaluate Office of Sponsored Programs contract operational procedures and propose revisions to streamline. Work closely with Pre-Award and Post-Award Manager to implement procedures deemed more efficient.Essential
30Identify emerging federal funding opportunities: Using Pivot and other search tools, identify, evaluate, summarize, develop team, and prepare proposal.Essential

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Advanced knowledge of accounting theory and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP; rules and regulations associated with fiscal activities. Expert analytical and research skills. Advanced knowledge of rules and regulations associated with fiscal activities, and ability to interpret these rules and regulations. Knowledge of an area of fiscal specialty (e.g. debt management, tax compliance, business planning). Expert management skills. Ability to develop/design improvements to accounting processes. Ability to design and introduce fiscal programs and systems having UAA-wide impact.

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

Prior experience as contract manager in a large organization working with federal contracts and negotiating complex agreements between multiple parties requiring legal consultation.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and 5 years progressively responsible professional or management fiscal experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A Master’s degree or professional licensure preferred (e.g. CPA, CFM).  Due to the nature of the contracts and clients, individuals applying for this position must be US Citizens at time of application.  

This is a part-time, 12-month, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA salary schedule, Grade 82, based on education and experience. 

Term Position:

This position is a term-funded position and is reviewed annually for contract renewal at the University's discretion.
