The University of Alaska Fairbanks and the Alaska Satellite Facility (ASF) are seeking to fill a Postdoctoral Researcher Position in the field of Radar Remote Sensing. In addition to conducting independent research in the field of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), the successful applicant will collaborate with the ASF Chief Scientist on the development of new radar remote sensing techniques and their integration into operational processing flows. This position is funded by NASA grants. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with experience in the theory and applications of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and interferometric SAR (InSAR). Knowledge in machine learning and big data analysis is also desired. Analytical skills and basic experience in programming are preferable. A readiness to work in a multidisciplinary research team is essential.
We are offering a research position embedded within the interdisciplinary research environment of ASF and UAF. The position will be located in Fairbanks, Alaska, and employment will be provided for a period of at least one year. The successful applicant will work with partners from within NASA and the NASA research community, and will gain experience in analyzing SAR data in the cloud.
General knowledge in the theory and applications of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and interferometric SAR (InSAR) is required.
Knowledge in deep learning and big data analysis.
Knowledge of computer programming and the ability to conduct research in the field of SAR.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Required Education and Experience:
A Ph.D. in Geophysics, Electrical Engineering, Geography, Geomatics or related field is required. Experience in the theory and/or application of SAR.
