Position Summary:

The mission of the University of Alaska Foundation is to seek, secure and steward philanthropic support to build excellence at the University of Alaska. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable, real-world experience while completing your degree!


The UA Foundation is looking for an energetic and versatile student to add to its Philanthropic Research team. This position will work with staff members in both the Anchorage and Fairbanks offices on a variety of tasks/projects (see job duties below) in support of Philanthropy at the University of Alaska.  The successful student will need to be a quick learner with the ability to be accurate, pay close attention to detail, work in an organized manner, follow instructions and work with a high degree of independence after initial instructions.

The position is 20-hours per week ($10.50 per hour to start) during the normal M-F, 8am-5pm work week.  Willing to work with class schedules. 

This position has openings in Anchorage and Fairbanks. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Applicant must be a quick learner and have the ability to be accurate, pay close attention to detail, work in an organized manner, follow instructions and work with a high degree of independence after initial instructions. Must possess the ability to prioritize and master a wide variety of complex tasks to complete work in a timely and thorough manner. Must possess basic clerical skills including accurate typing/keyboarding and filing, and have strong organizational and problem solving skills. Must act in a highly professional manner with tact and courtesy at all times and maintain confidentiality and security of all information. Applicant must have excellent personal, written, and oral communications skills. Working knowledge of software such as Word, Excel and database applications with the ability to perform data searches using the internet. Applicant must be familiar with office equipment such as fax, copiers, personal computers, printers, scanners, phones etc. Previous office experience and experience in handling confidential records desired. Must have valid driver's license.    

Required Experience:

Sufficient to perform the responsibilities of the position and to have acquired the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.  Prior experience working in office environment favorable.

Typical Education or Training:

High school graduate or equivalent.  Currently enrolled at the University of Alaska.

Type of Employment:

This is a student position. To be eligible for student employment, and applicant must:

a) Be enrolled in the University of Alaska system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment; or

b) Have been enrolled the preceding semester for six or more credit hours and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters; and

c) Have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or approval from the MAU Senior Student Services officer of the Senior Student Services officer.
