Position Summary:

UAA Parking Services is responsible for parking administration on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus. Parking Services endeavors to administer this responsibility in a manner that enhances the operation of the university by providing for the orderly and effective use of limited parking space and promoting vehicular and pedestrian safety. The Parking Services Enforcement Supervisors provide direct supervision for student workers, front desk backup assistance, permit processing, and additional tasks related to signage, event support, permit sales, and other enforcement related needs. This position reports to the Assistant Director for Parking Services and has standard work hours of 11:30 am – 8:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with evening and weekend work as required for campus events.

Duties:

10Service Coordinating-Oversee and promote Call Team Services such as escorts, motorist assists and enforcement. Create, maintain and analyze Call Team activity spreadsheets, including monthly calls for services and dispatch logs. Coordinate special event and visitor parking.Essential
30Customer Complaint Resolution-Extensive customer problem solving interacting often with irate customers who have department business. Frequent interpretation and application of rules, regulations and guidelines as they pertain to questions within enforcement.Essential
40Staff Supervision-Manage activities of Call Team Officers (CTO), including recruitment , hiring, training, scheduling, counseling, motivation, performance appraisals and assigning duties. Assure balance of enforcement responsibilities with customer-oriented offering of services to motorists and pedestrians.Essential
5Assists with calls for services, vehicle jumpstarts, unlocks, safety escorts and provides assistance to the University Police Department.Essential
5Inventory Officer-Maintain inventory and supplies for Call Team operations, including high security items, CTO uniforms and equipment, handheld citation devices; etc.Essential
5Maintenance of parking meters, Pay n Park machines and garage equipment. Assists in patrolling parking lots and roads. Enforces parking regulations in accordance with university policies.Essential
5Systems Research-Access APSIN (DMV) to research registered owners and ADA placard owner information. Act as a liaison with contractor of on-line parking system, working closely to resolve handheld equipment issues. Access Banner for student registration and payment information. Operate and coordinate upgrades for computer software, enforcement technology, handheld radios, department cell phones, and digital cameras.Essential

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Demonstrated ability to supervise and train a diverse student employee workforce.
Strong interpersonal communication skills to include conflict resolution.
Ability to interpret and explain regulations, protocols and procedures.
Ability to operate computers and specialized equipment. Knowledge of Windows platform computer,
navigating emails, calendars, and Microsoft Office.
High self-management skills, including sound judgment related to consulting or referring issues as
appropriate and strong follow up.
Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a timely manner.
Advanced cash handling skills.
Preferred –
Experience with AED and CPR certifications.
Experience maintaining inventory records and tracking service calls.
Experience with events, traffic plans, and traffic management.
Experience in using mobile platforms such as Android and iPhone devices.

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

Minimum two years related experience in customer service and supervisory roles in a professional or field
environment.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

High school diploma or equivalent and three years progressively responsible related experience
or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Valid State of Alaska Driver’s License, ability to meet UA Safe Driver Criteria.

**This is a full-time, Grade 76, non-exempt, minimum $19.34/hr, 12-month position complete with a competitive salary and UA employee benefits package.
