10 Personnel Management:
Supervise the YP Cultural Center Assistant, temp and part-time Cultural Center workers. Essential
90 Event Coordination/Facility Oversight:
Coordinates events, schedules and facilitates all YP Cultural Center usage, oversees user agreements, set-up/take-down of conference rooms and stage. Works with the KuC business office on rental agreements, proof of insurance from leasee’s, daily bank deposits and revenue from the Coffee Cart and Saturday Markets. Maintain facility cleanliness standards.
Work in partnership with community organizations and businesses to foster healthy community events. Coordinate KuC and YPCC public relations and community activities through exterior digital signage, interior tv monitor, and the website.
Develop partnerships and rental agreements (through UA) with the Kuskokwim Art Guild to operate the YPCC Gift Shop. Coordinate entrepreneurial growth, collaborating with State and local organizations and villages piloting Saturday Markets as a vehicle. Schedule monthly Saturday Markets and coordinate with vendors. Develop partnerships with local/statewide organizations to promote the annual Best in the West Small Business Competition open to residents of the Yukon Kuskokwim region. Coordinate the Regional Artists and Small Business Cooperative working with AVCP Museum, KuC Consortium Library, KAG Gift Shop and YPCC to develop and promote the preservation of Yup’ik culture, language, dance and arts & crafts. Kuskokwim Campus (KuC) is a branch of the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) located in Bethel, Alaska. Completely off the road system and four hundred miles west of Anchorage, Bethel is a hub community for forty-seven Yup’ik villages in the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta, a geographic region roughly the size of the state of Louisiana. Village life is driven by traditional subsistence fishing, hunting, and gathering combined with a modern cash economy. The KuC Yupiit Piciryarait Program Manager works with the KuC Campus and the Bethel Community to manage, develop and enhance services at the YP Cultural Center for the benefit of the YK region.
This is a full-time (80 hours),
Grade 78, ($32.90/hr) DOE, 11-month position complete with a competitive salary and UA employee benefits package.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to manage/market an organization or facility. Knowledge of small business practices. Ability to manage multiple projects. Project and/or grant management experience. Cross-cultural communication skills. Excellent writing ability. Demonstrated experience living and working in a rural/remote setting, preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of local community and regional educational resources and agencies.
Two years experience in facilities management and marketing, small business operations, and arts/crafts production and/or marketing. Supervisory experience.
Required Education or Training:
Bachelors Degree in an appropriate field or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Demonstrated experience in project management.
