Position Summary:

Duties:

15Client Outreach 15% -Network with economic development entities in the state to identify technical assistance or applied research needs. -Interface with potential clients to promote the services and programs of CED. -Assist in developing systems to evaluate and report on the success of programs, projects and activities to enhance the long-term success of local entrepreneurs. -Aid in delivery of public presentations as requested and in meeting the need to support CED statewide outreach objectives. -Work in collaboration with other CED staff as well as in partnership with other BEI units such as SBDC.Essential
15Entrepreneurship Development 15% -Assist CED staff in designing and conducting entrepreneurship training. -Perform and/or support editing, production, and presentation of training materials. -Participate in the preparation and distribution of CED reports to funding agencies.Essential
20Business Analyst Consultant 20% -Assist Lead Analyst and CED director in advising clients on economic development initiatives. These may include tribes, nonprofits, businesses, or government agencies. -Support development of client scopes of work including defining client needs -Participate in developing reports, materials, or verbal summaries in readily understandable manner for internal team and clients -Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis and summarize findings as component of feasibility studies, business plans, market analyses, etc.Essential
50Research and Data Analysis 50% -Write report sections, materials, or simple summaries to support Alaska stakeholders in using relevant data. -Review, collect, and analyze regional economic and demographic data relevant to Alaska stakeholders. -Conduct interviews with business owners, stakeholders, and other individuals to collect qualitative information relevant to reports or other research materials. -Develop compelling visual displays of economic data to be hosted on the CED website.Essential

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Ability to collect, analyze and interpret data. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals and groups and to work successfully as a member of a team. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to organize and present facts and opinions. Ability to exercise good judgment in analyzing situations and making decisions.

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

Evidence of interest in finance, economic development, business administration, entrepreneurship, public policy, or economics. Some college required, a bachelor’s degree is preferred. Two years of work experience in a related area.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

Bachelor's degree in business, political science, economics or a related field. Master's degree preferred. Will give strong consideration to candidates with a combination of education and experience that demonstrates a clear interest in economic development.

Term Position:

This position is a term-funded position and is reviewed annually for contract renewal at the University's discretion.
