Position Summary:

The School of Allied Health is seeking applicants for the Academic Clinical Coordinator of the Physical Therapist Assistant education program. Applicants must be a licensed physical therapist (PT) or a physical therapist assistant (PTA). The Academic Coordinator of Clinical education/faculty member will be responsible for the clinical education portion of the program, as well as teaching classes in the program and in the School of Allied Health.

Duties:

100Teaching courses including, but not limited to, didactic and laboratory instruction in the Physical Therapist Assistant program and the School of Allied Health. Direct student learning and assessing student progress in achieving the requirements of the program in the appropriate learning domains. Scheduling, coordinating and evaluating all aspects of the PTA clinical education program. Maintain office hours according to contractual guidelines. Additional duties include course revision, academic assessment, curriculum improvement, textbook evaluation, academic advising, program development and University committee participation.Essential

Summary of UAA/School of Allied Health:
The University of Alaska Anchorage, School of Allied Health seeks an innovative, energetic individual who will work in a collaborative teaching environment in the delivery of Allied Health courses within the UAA Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program. The clinical coordinator/faculty member appointed to this position will provide advising to prospective and current PTA students, didactic and laboratory education to students enrolled in the PTA program.  The clinical coordinator/faculty member will be responsible for the clinical education portion of the program, as well as teaching classes in the program and in the School of Allied Health.

Position Summary:
This position will work in a collaborative/interdisciplinary teaching environment in the delivery of Allied Health courses within the UAA Physical Therapist Assistant program. The faculty member appointed to this position will provide advising to prospective and current PTA students, didactic and laboratory education to students enrolled in the PTA program. The Academic Coordinator will be responsible for the structure as well as the daily operation of the program, including organization, administration, periodic review and evaluation, continued development, and general effectiveness of program curricula. This position supports the University of Alaska bipartite mission of performing teaching and service.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to teach entry-level Physical Therapist Assistant psychomotor, affective and cognitive competencies using various diverse pedagogical methods to engage students in learning, such as lecture presentations, laboratory assessments, Blackboard applications, research, and the ability to teach using online modalities.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and professionally with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and the public.
  • Ability to work effectively in a faculty team, as well as function independently.
  • Demonstration of commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Didactic and/or clinical teaching experience in a variety of areas of teaching (academic, clinical, continuing education, in-service).
  • Experience in student evaluation and outcomes assessment.
  • Commitment to and the ability to work effectively within the scope of the College of Health mission and to work with a diverse student and staff population.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; computer literacy.
  • Currency in contemporary physical therapy practice.
  • Knowledge of contemporary curricular content for the education of the physical therapist assistant.
  • Service on behalf of physical therapy education, the community, and/or the profession.

Preferred:
Successful citizen partnership skills and experience maintaining partnerships with private and public agencies and organizations, including advisory boards.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum two years’ experience in clinical practice.
  • Significant experience in clinical practice as a Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant.

Preferred:
More than five years' clinical experience

Education/Training:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree.
  • Licensure as a Physical Therapist; or licensure, certification, or registration in states where applicable as a Physical Therapist
    Assistant.

Preferred:
Master's degree.

Salary will be based upon level of academic appointment, applicable academic preparation and experience.
