Seeking an innovative and independent staff member to join our Department of Resident Life Team! Residence Life is looking for a Resident Director (RD). This position is a full time professional, master’s degree preferred, with supervisor experience willing to work late night hours. The Resident Director lives in a residence hall and manages a facility or multiple facilities. They are responsible for student conduct, maintenance requests, weekly walk throughs, programming, roommate conflict, mediation, learning objectives, and overall providing a safe and well maintained facility for our residents to live in. Works on a creative team, providing support and education to students beyond the classroom. Provides leadership and direction for young para-professionals within the residence halls and a support system to the residents they serve. This position serves on a late night crisis response team, is trained in crisis management, and is available at a variety of hours. We look forward to meeting you!
10 * Collaborate with other offices and groups to increase the quality of programs and services
* Develop and implement evaluations and assessment tools.
* Assist in the planning of annual events on campus such as Rev-It-Up, hall opening, Tradition weekends, etc.

15 * Assess and report repairs and/or damage to Facilities for proper actions or create work orders and follow up to ensure it has been completed.
* Supervise the opening and closing of residence halls and coordinate the procedure. Essential
20 * Advise and support hall staff in developing positive living communities, including advising Community Council.
* Serve as a resource to and provide training for the students interested in Community Council and work closely with them.
* Develop supportive relationships with the students in the residence halls.
* Meet with students regarding personal, social and administrative concerns.
*Develop an awareness of the broad scope of student needs in the residence hall(s).
* Provide all students with information about residence hall and campus services, safety and security issues, University and residence hall policies, and their respective reporting systems.
* Encourage student involvement in traditional and non-traditional leadership activities.
* Be available during regular office hours as well as have a strong and regular presence in areas after hours. Essential
25 * The Resident Director serves as primary live-in administrator to one to 3 residence halls.
* Primary focus is to ensure that the residence hall(s) are safe, secure, clean environments which support the students' pursuits of an educational degree as well as their growth and development. In accordance with this focus, the Resident Director will create and implement activities and programs that are responsive to students' needs, develop community and are conducive to the academic mission of the university.
* Responsible for the daily operation/management and supervision of a residence hall(s) with 200-400 students.
* Maintain accurate and up to date administrative records including data on occupancy, discipline, maintenance, key control, activity logs and student information, programs, conduct, budgets etc. throughout the academic year
*Monitor, analyze and oversee budget(s).
* Other duties and projects may be assigned by the Associate Director of Residence Life. Essential
25 Perform adjudication of student discipline issues.
* Evaluate, intervene in and /or refer student disciplinary issues, crises and personal issues and make recommendations for responses based on behavior concerns.
* Assist students with mediation and conflict resolution.
* Present and interpret residence hall policies and the Student Code of Conduct.
* Investigate and document violations of the Residence Hall Policies and procedures and the Student Code of Conduct.
* Confront and report incidents of harassment, discrimination, and intimidation against and by students, staff, and faculty.
* Promote understanding and tolerance of diverse cultures in the residential community.
* Council students with personal and academic concerns and refer as appropriate.
* Serve in an on-campus emergency response on-call rotation 24 hours (5-6 times a semester). Essential
5 * Select, train and supervise Resident Assistants and Desk Attendants.
* Hold regular formal supervision meetings with individual staff
* Conduct and attend weekly staff meetings
* Conduct mid-year and/or year-end evaluations of Resident Assistants and Desk Attendants.
* Schedule staff duty coverage from 7 p.m. - 8 a.m. in each residence hall Essential
Ability to communicate effectively with all types of people.
Ability to understand work to be done, organize that work and delegate tasks to staff members appropriately. Ability to coordinate programs and process, and to synthesize them into successful student and departmental services. Ability to analyze information and to problem-solve. Knowledge of, and ability to work within, a university environment with all of its constituencies. Ability to conceptualize large projects requiring the integration of various systems. Ability to work independently and use sound judgment to make decisions. Ability to be an effective mentor to students and to appropriately advise university students about personal and vocational choices, including advising them as to what departments might be able to more effectively assist them with their particular issues. Knowledge of student development theory. Use of common word processing and spreadsheet software applications.
Preference given to individuals with at least two years professional live-in experience or experience supervising students.
TYPICAL EDUCATION OR TRAINING:
Bachelor's degree required. Master’s degree in higher education or a related field preferred.

This is a full-time,
Grade 78, minimum $1,888.00 biweekly, DOE, 10-month position complete with a competitive salary and UA employee benefits package.
